[Hireling Mail timer] Could ZOS please re-examine this, especially with login issues

    Bumping this thread.
@ZOS_RobGarrett , changing the crafter Hirelings so that they automatically drop the delivery into the Crafting Bag, without having to log in to each character, would be a profound Quality of Life time-saving change for many people, especially those with with 8 to 18 to even 36 (across both servers) toons.
Especially now, when people are experiencing connection issues including being disconnected and in some cases not being able to log in reliably.

Bumping this thread. A change to how Hireling mail works would be a great qualify of life change for all players with the passive skill, especially crafters with a lot of alts -- and especially now when many people are having login issues, which pushes the delivery schedule forward constantly.

Dropping the delivery into the Crafting Bag automatically and without having to log on would be great, but even just changing the timer to 20 hours from 24 would be a significant convenience.

The timer isn’t 24 hours though. It’s 12 hours between mails with passives fully unlocked.

Or maybe even *gasp* a daily reset at a fixed time so you don't have to login at any specific time just to collect the freebies?

Obvious strategy to push for multiple daily logins is obvious...

Good luck with that. I’ve been complaining about the stupidity of a feature that makes users DoS the servers to get hireling mails twice a day for years. ZOS don’t care.

Perhaps the final passive could be changed so that instead of two mails twelve hours apart, you get twice as much materials in one mail?

Wait, scratch it... that would be way too convenient. :p

The 12-hour mails are actually really bad. If your best time to log in is, say 6pm after work, are you really gonna get up at 6am to get the other mail? And if you get the other mail any later, the next mail is going to be 12 hours after that -- definitely not 6pm.

So it's actually reasonable to fold in tier 3. OR leave it at 12hours but automatically dump it into the Crafting Bag without anyone having to log in at all.

You do realize that the whole point of having hirelings is to encourage you to LOG ON regularly...it is not to give you "free" mats...

    Nope. That's daily login rewards.

    Bumping this thread.

Now that ZOS is approaching completion of their massive sweep of skill changes, perhaps they can look into Hireling mail and changing it so that it automatically delivers into the Crafting Bag, without having to log in at all.

This would be a massive Quality of Life improvement for many players who have 8, 18, or possibly more characters (playing on both NA and EU servers).
Doing the same for the Dark Brotherhood supplies would also be great.

Best case would to simply drop all the supplies into the Crafting Bag without having to log in at all to any character.

If we could just collect all hireling mails on the first char we log in, it would be perfect. I don't even care if they change the timer then, because I won't waste half an hour of my play time just relogging.

Having to "touch" each character is very annoying with all the delays built into the login/logout/login/etc. process. Very tedious and slow just to touch everyone on a regular basis and get the stuff I spent skill points on.

This is by design. Not the annoying you part but the having to log into the game. They want you to log in every day and this is one way to give you incentive to log in. The goodies are tied to your characters and that is why you need to log in on each one.

Nope. They have daily login rewards for that. And even that is HUGELY more convenient than the Hireling mail.
I don't think they anticipated people having many crafters.

Also, even just changing the timer from 24 hours to 20 hours would be a huge QoL change. Otherwise the time always inches forward due to all sorts of things, such as mail delay or getting disconnected. Or even just stopping to pick up your mail. Or your mailbox being full and having to wait for the hireling mail to be delivered after your clear your mailbox.

It certainly would make sense to have all the "once in every 24 hours" things step on at the same time each day, and the "one day cooldown" be 20 hours or so. It seems like the hireling mails are neither fish nor fowl for this, because of the passive level that doubles the deliveries. The closest compromise seems to be having a 20/10 hour cooldown.

Or have the third level not be two mails but a single mail with more materials. A half-day schedule is its own kind of inconvenience

Except that they probably do that so few people will really get that much extra goods. How often can you touch each character 12 hours apart?

It is enough of a pain doing riding for about 180 days (a bit less if you take advantage of the 20 hour time and apply the bonus you get while leveling). Who needs that to continue forever.

I just missed another daily reward BTW because I forgot to grab it, even while I was on several characters on that server during the previous day. It is like they want to claim lots of rewards and such, but then help make you not really get them.

Yep. Daily log in rewards are an added incentive. I am not arguing about 24 hours compared to 20 or if the way it works is good or bad. I'm telling you why it is like it is. It is an incentive to log onto your characters.

    Bumping this thread.
@ZOS_RobGarrett A change to how Hireling deliveries (and the Dark Brotherhood Shadowy Supplier) would be a profound Quality of Life improvement for players, especially those with multiple crafters.

Ideally, dropping the entire delivery into the Crafting Bag automatically without logging in at all would be great.

Even a change from 24 hours to 20 hours would have a profound impact, as currently with a 24-hour timer, the schedule inches forward constantly due to in-game mail delay, login issues, connection issues, in-game activities with guilds/friends, and even scheduled maintenance.
Changing it to 20 hours would mean players can adjust more easily at what time they pick up the delivery.
