Some of the drops are too tortuous to acquire by orher methods.

I was trying to buy some nirnhoned wood stuff this weekend and I could only find it in one place out of the 5 or 6 places I checked: Mournhold. It was ironically all priced at 23K gold. And I thought the guild vendor system was supposed to stop price fixing.
That was on the PS4 EU server. I regularly find such pieces on the PS4 NA server for <15K when I need them (past few months) with lots of price variation.
I agree with the idea of buying trait items from guild vendors, but finding one that has it at a reasonable price may be a big challenge.

Most wood items are weapons, which means potent nirncrux. The trait stone itself runs 12k or so on PC/NA. Combine higher prices on your platform and I think those prices are understandable. Idk how you were getting weapons for much less, unless you were getting shields and not paying attention.
