Would you like to have your very own trade kiosk to set up in your home?

I sure would! Maybe then people would have a reason to pay a visit, yes? It would certainly add more interactive utility, clean up chat coms and give players that don't want to play the guild trader game a respectable option to sell some junk. Perhaps it could be something small and somewhat limited to prevent abuse from exploiters. Maybe the auction house polls would go away?

I doubt we'll ever actually see something like this but I've had the idea floating around for a while and am curious what others think.

    Sure, why not?

Although, people seem to be more into the idea of begging me for free furniture (without even wanting to pay for mats, sometimes, let alone wanting to pay me a tip/profit!) than they are in buying anything.

Would be nice if it had enough slots to list every piece of furniture I can make, though.

Then I could just direct people to my store, if they wanted anything.

Rather than going through the hassle of explaining how they can figure out what they want, how they can find out the mats needed to make it and how they can then send me the request and mats.

Not that I can get the mats, even vaguely easily, anymore.

So, maybe I don't need it, for furnishings, afterall?

Basically, you can't win, at the moment, whatever you do.

I imagine it would be very similar to the current guild trader kiosks in appearance and function but a more basic version, like the banker and merchant assistants. Some capacity limit would be needed so it doesn't just become extra storage for hoarders. The NPC would take a cut from each sale to satisfy the precious golden sink. Ideally, I would like it to have some kind of global search feature that you could find what everyone has posted for sale at their kiosks, like a message board or something set up in each of the alliance capitals. If that's too much like an AH that traders always portend to be the doom of the economy, then maybe keep it to having to advertise in chat. It would obviously have to be balanced in a way to not destroy what we already have.

EQ2 did that. It was cheaper when bought from your home. It was not perfect but helped a lot to stop others to buy cheap and sell expensive, because they had to invest time to travel and zoning. But then.. EQ2 had a huge shiny market and ESO not.

people generally don't really visit homes unless they are really into housing or rp, and it would take away from some of the trade guild's inventory. It's hard enough to find things these days, imagine if you had to go to every house you knew, too!

What i would like to see is access to posting on guild traders from our homes, so similar, not same.

If you could only list some of your own items in it, the I'd be for it. Otherwise it would just turn trade guilds that already control the market in large towns to just double up and have a stall in their hall as well.

I myself would not want such a thing in my own houses, but I would love for others who do want it to be able to have it. It would not affect me in the least for other people to have that.

What I want is a crafting writ board in my house. xD I have to go out and work with other players to do dungeons, trials and PvP, I would very much like to be able to solo my face off on everything else in the comfort of my own virtual home and not have to be in noisy towns fully of flappies and duelists.

This idea is very intriguing. Someone that has one of the biggest Guild Houses could really benefit from this. Say you have 1500-2500 people with access to your home with all Crafting sets and they run out of Alloys doing a Master Writ. They can walk over and see if you have some listed and pick them up without making multiple ports.

I totally agree with Shabbity here. Imagine all the decorative wax is now only available in private houses! This one shivers at the thought.

Having Tythis or Ezabi be able to talk to a guild trader would be top notch. Having Nuzhimeh or Fezez be able to repair would be amazing still. I think the reason these are not options is to keep is going to cities. Otherwise why would you ever port anywhere but your house?

I have been to a few "yard sales" but the owner always had to be there to peddle their wares. Somehow making a yard sale viable without the owner being present would be good.

Oh yes! The ability to set up player vendors in their own houses is something I really loved about certain other MMOs (Ultima Online's housing system I think is still one of the best). I really wish this could be implemented in ESO.

Maybe instead you can mark a second property as a 'Store' instead of a 'Home'.
Different properties have different item limits as they do now - and ESO+ increases this limit.
Right-clicking a persons name in Friends / Guild list now also adds an option to visit primary Store.
(Can you currently Visit a house just by right clicking a player name in zone chat??)

In the store you can only place saleable furnishings that you have crafted yourself.
Visitors can visit the store and look at actual products - interacting with a product brings up a window with the item details and price and the option to purchase.

You could advertise your wares in your guild note.
    Examples:
"Store specialising in Purple quality Redguard Furnishings"
"Over 50 Food & Drink Furnishing Items available"
"Professional Weavers - 90% of all Rugs & Tapestries on sale"

Basically to continue the present system as anything like a viable one you must greatly increase the number of traders - at least in line with the rise in population.

There simply is not the space to do this in existing zones. Therefore you must use some other form of space. Housing is the obviously untapped potential here, subject to all kinds of codes and magic things that this one doesn't know about and which might be terribly upset by all of this.

i would love this...even if the house trader only allowed for like 1/2 of what the guild traders allowed and maybe only for items that you can craft that are housing related. the only thing i dislike about housing is no one ever comes to see my creations...

I doubt that a trader in your home outside the guild trader system would fly, but since you can trade in chat anyway, a UI wrapped around a new NPC to facilitate one-to-one trades could be feasible.

people generally don't really visit homes unless they are really into housing or rp, and it would take away from some of the trade guild's inventory. It's hard enough to find things these days, imagine if you had to go to every house you knew, too!

That's kinda the idea here though, it would encourage more players to actually visit other's homes. This would in-turn lead those with a kiosk to tidy their places up a bit, play the decorating game and probably spend boatloads of gold and crowns in the process. It would also give players that aren't involved with trade guilds an option to engage with the economy, which would add competition that most economists agree is a good thing.

I can't reiterate enough that it shouldn't interfere with the current guild trader operations or destroy niche markets. The standard has been established and this would just be in addition to that. It couldn't be something that brings an advantage over being in an established trader. Like you've mentioned, accessibility is a big deterrent already. Nobody enjoys the loading screen game. Limiting the function of it would also help, like only 10-15 items/7 days and exclude certain catagories of items, like crafting materials and motifs. I think it could easily be balanced in a way that's not wrecking certain players fun.

^ I think you could allow a lot more than 10-15 items, but they should all be furnishings.

That way people could come to your home, specifically, to buy furnishings and it wouldn't interfere with the rest of the trading system.

Really, you should be able to list one lot of every furnishing item you can craft, at a time.

As I say, I still think it would be of limited use, though, while we don't have a centralised place to buy mats.

I can't farm enough mats for my own furnishings (unless I do nothing else), let alone enough that I can consistently make stuff to sell and going from trader to trader just to find the only decorative wax left is listed at 1300g is, obviously, a joke.

    Yeah.

I think there would need to be another, more permanent, way of advertising your house as a selling venue.

Some sort of list and a way of porting directly there via that list.

I don't think it should favour the (normally) already wealthy more.

It would need to be done in a way that gives everyone an equal chance.

Obviously, if they linked the number of slots available to the number of furnishing recipes you know, that would give a slight advantage to the people who have "invested" in plans, but it wouldn't automatically place guild leaders at the top of the pile immediately (again).

Also, any list should not place sellers in alphabetical order (or any other set order).

The order should be random and ever-changing.

Otherwise, the same sellers would get more than their fair share of custom.

You would probably end up with a TTC type list of the items, anyway, but still.
