Anyway to fix forum behavior?

Whenever I click on a thread it takes me to a random post. I would rather just be taken to the oldest post (the original message).

Clicking on the thread name takes you to the last post you read in that post. Clicking on the number in the list of pages, takes you to the top of that page. So if a thread has 4 pages, clicking on the 3 takes you to page 3, while clicking on the 1 takes you to the first page.

Doesn’t work that way on the phone unfortunately, which is my predominant way of accessing the forums.

I use mobile for the forums quite a bit, and mine also takes me to the last post I read, which I like.

However, I think that the times I was signed out of my forum account, it didn't 'remember' what I'd read and just took me to the beginning of each thread. Possibly? I didn't really test it out for any length of time to see if that persisted.

Maybe delete your cookies every time you close out your browser. Why do you want to read the same posts twice?

When you click on a thread for the first time it will take you to the first post in the thread

If you click on a thread that you have already looked at it will take you to the first newest post in that thread assuming you want to read from where you left off

put a thumb down on peoples posts that we, or mods, can click and then use an algorithm to not show those peoples posts or limit their posting who have too many bad thumbs.

something like that.

even if just the mods had this power, i wouldn't be upset...i'm tired of "negative person, say something opposite no matter what person, troll, etc."

No, just remove '#latest' from the end of the url
I dont think there's a setting to stop this behavoiur

I posted about this earlier. It's doing the same thing for me. I don't mind when it takes me to the last post I read but it's doing it randomly. Three times today I clicked the title of a new post I hadn't seen before and it put me down near the middle of the page. I was wondering if there was a setting somewhere I needed to change but couldn't find anything.

I am glad you see the problem, others above you seem to think what’s happening by design? But are completely missing the issue.

I have an issue where when I'm on mobile, 80% of the links I open start on the second page, even for ones I've never read before. It's super annoying x__x.

I know what you mean in OP. When I click on the thread I am taken to the first unread message. I like that, but on my phone, I wish there was a link to the first message on both the top and bottom of the page.

Click on the option 'First' at the bottom if you are on mobile.

This is correct. If you want to start a thread from the start click the page 1 if it's multiple pages, if it's a single page you'll have to scroll to the start I'm afraid.
