My concept of MMO Gameplay is Outdated

So...my take away from a recently closed Necro’d thread and another that pointed out the irony of the closed thread...and multiple others in a series of...we would like to see game improvements and communication...
is that
-Communication is Outdated
-Players with valid complaints are “Trolls”
-Discussion about performance...is not a valid topic...

This morning I played for about 20min in Cyrodiil on PS4 NA...during which I attempted to help defend Ales...I got into inner courtyard annnd Loadscreen...crap Ep must of flip’d the keep...Loadscreen ends...I’m dead...but...no Keep was still ADs...so why the Loadscreen!? A kind passerby proceeds to Res me and I get up Annnd....Loadscreen...yup now the keep flip’d we both die...such fun!!

Oh and about 10 min later I got disconnected...

Soo I have Soo many more complaints...but this Game Could Be Great! It has the Potential and it is sad to see ZoS throwing it all away
And I wish ZoS realized that..
If you Ignore them they’ll go away... doesn’t work...it’s just a breeding ground for more “trolls”

There's a difference necroing an old thread made by Rob Garret just for fun and creating feedback threads. That's why it gets closed.

It's understandable though, the irony in the gameplay designer going out telling that he'll post regularly about giving insight when we have the situation we have right now, a lot of issues with very limited communication.

Cyrodiil has always been a [snip] show. If that’s what you came for, you got trolled by the advertisers.

This is completely inaccurate. There are plenty of constructive, polite threads where the poster states valid complaints and the thread is viewed as informative. It's the means in which you convey your thoughts that gives way to thinking you are trolling.

Yes, the irony was strong with that necro'd thread. It was almost too much.

While I can agree, the thread title is misleading. It implies actual gameplay (how people work together) not dev interaction.

While I completely disagree with OP that their intentions were "for the greater good"... :D:D

... I do have to say that I am in agreement that we are at a point in time with Zo$ in which communication is almost none existant on these forums, as compared to history. The common player will no longer be able to log onto these forums, post a question, and get a response from one of the Community Managers with any type of consistency. Instead, Community Managers will only communicate with its player base when they have something to say, rather than engage with the community.

I am not even saying that the Community Managers are completely at fault over this. Some of the blame is with the community on these forums. If the common player jumps onto the forums and posts a question, they are immedatly hit with "L2P", "Get Gud", "Lol Potato", or some long winded story in which they brag about their own personal achievements in the game that has only slightly to do with the orginal topic. The forums are a mess and have become a toxic wasteland over the last few months. Community Managers would have to dig through a dozen toxic threads to get the common player's question and even fellow forum members who are willing to help, will have their advice drown by the toxic forum dwellers.

Whether it is fair or not, the common player will have better luck going to one of the "Stream Team" twitch streams and having your questions answered there. Most of the time a Community Manager will be lurking in one of the most popular streams and while they do not answer questions directly, communication between Community Managers and Stream Team Twitch Streamers appears to be fluid enough that they have most of the answers that you are looking for...

I must confess I ended up Redacting a lot of my original post to steer away from an Automatically Closed thread....ah wells...it’s their Forum...

Yeah, pretty much. I blame Twitter. Using Twitter makes you stupid, and there's even scientific research proving it now. Gone are the days when people understood concepts that required more than 140 characters. Which, ironically means they can't understand said research.

-Players with valid complaints are “Trolls”

Most of them are trolls. Not for the complaints, but because they repeatedly post "Game broken! Fix lag now!" day after day after day. Again, Twitter.

-Discussion about performance...is not a valid topic...

Oh it's valid. Just not when the "discussion" is a series of "ZoS fix lag now!" like they're trying to discuss the issue on some kind of platform that imposes a very low character limit.

Necro'd old threads getting locked, and threads complaining about mod action getting locked.... is pretty much standard for gaming forums for over 10 years now.

    So it's not something "new".

...it's also not "MMO gameplay", so I'm not sure what your conclusions about how forum communication work have to do with your subject line.

edit: oh, and posters who necro threads, get lots of threads locked, and make lots of (locked) threads complaining about it; thinking that they're somehow unfairly targeted for persecution and/or the standard bearers for The Revolution against The Man.... is also nothing new.

Including those members of the community whose idea to attract more communications from ZOS is to refer to them as "Zo$".
