I was expecting a nightmare of farming but I was surprised (vet malestrom)

So I completed vet maelstrom two times 1 year ago and got a maelstrom restorationstaff and maelstrom bow. I played stamina dps I was happy and never did it again.
Until now, when I play magica dps I needed the maelstrom fire and lightning staffs. So I prepared myself for weeks of farming and anxiety. Little did I know, after 5 runs I had 2 maelstrom restorationstaffs, 2 maelstrom infernostaffs and 1 lightnimgstaff.

How long did it take you to get your drop from maelstrom?

✭✭Haha good for you. Haven't farmed it since before transmution, but easily 50 runs before my first inferno dropped, and I don't know how many more until I gave up and settled for a precise one. Got bows in every trait, good trait one-handers, and an army of restos and SnBs.EU PC1 -

✭✭✭✭✭I got an Inferno staff on my first run, but not in a good trait (charged I think it was), this was before Transmutation as well.
Other runs, I got most the weapons desired, just in bad traits. Was very happy when Transmutation came out.@Turelus - EU PC Megaserver

✭✭✭✭✭First bow dropped on 10th run or around that mark. But second one was only on a first flawless run, lol. Staves was never a problem.1 -
lardvader✭✭✭✭✭Not very long. Did my first 2 clears years ago, got a bow on the very first. Then I did 9 clears during one of the Orsinium events and got 4 infernos, 3 bows, 1 lightning and good samples of every set.
I did a bunch of clears this easter for my flawless and also since I want 2 more infernos and 3 bows. Have only gotten DW or S&B. Might wait for the next event before I go farming again.CP 1200+ PC EU EP1 -

Farming before transmutation was a pita. I remember farming white gold tower for spc, before nerfs to the dungeon and before transmutation.0 -

✭✭Before trait change and when sharpened was better than every other trait, I knew PvPers who did 200-300 vma runs to get their sharpened mauls and stuff, even though they completely hated the arena.
If anyone ever complains about a grind, just imagine how those guys felt. Mind you the arena was also the hardest content in the game back then, and getting clears on stam chars was a huge pain at first.

hasi✭✭✭✭Oof, I tried vMA ages ago, but couldn't complete it. Last year I went in again during the Orsinium Event, ran it dozens and dozens of times. I always got into the Weekly aswell.
But somehow my luck with Staves was rather meh.
So I quit running after I did 100+ Runs without ever even seeing a Frost or Flame Staff, lol.
For some reason I felt like doing vMA again last week in hope of getting a 2nd Resto. And I finally got my Flame Staff.

Bladerunner1✭✭✭✭Nice luck! My last two runs netted me a maelstrom bow and then a dagger and axe on the second run. But, did get a gold bow for leaderboard rewards same week I got my first bow, so there's that...1 -

sabina175✭✭On my first run I got a lightning stuff. Then only bows, greatswords, axes but never a fire staff. I just stopped it and play w my lightning stuff and decided to make a stam char 🙈🙈0

iris56✭✭✭I have a spreadsheet somewhere tracking my drops, but I got lightning amd flame staffs in the first 10 weapons or so. It took almost 70 to get my first bow. I was over 100 before i got enough bows for my stam characters, and thats with transmuting stuff.0
