What if Some Achievments Gave a Small Amount of Crowns?

Lord of the Rings Online implemented this with their store currency when they went F2P, and it made achievement hunting much more fun. Could it work in ESO? Would people like this?

I undoubtedly ended up spending more real money on their game due to this, as I got a bit hooked on spending my store currency. This is the incentive for ZOS.

SWTOR did it as well and it was an interesting concept.

ESO having character based achievements might make it tricky or require that the ones chosen are not farmable though.

Sure. But wouldn't it be more fun if there were factions with reputation in game with unlockable rewards?

Rep grind is fun? I mean, sure we already do dailies because of achievements but... rep grind and fun shouldn't be in the same thought process.

Grind is a part of mmos though. And a reason people prefer this genre over other. Also the game has so many areas that are not used atm and the lore allows so many ethical and rp choices to be taken by players. So why not? We are grinding for exp, cp, gold and ap already. Why not some cool rewards from rep as well? I mean I 'd rather getting my pets, mounts and costumes fro reputation achievements than from login daily rewards.

I agree. It'd take us back to areas that we rarely bother to visit any more and increase both immersion and daily login incentive.

    Oh no the reputation grind.

This one is now having the worst sort of flashbacks to her time in Middle Earth.

Every few months a new group who you need to make like you.

No no no. This one needs nobody to like her at all. Especially not horse people.

If you wish to bring something from Middle Earth then bring the music system and instanced neighbourhoods.

Do not bring the reputation grind!

Saying that some other additional reward apart from the dyes would not go amiss now and again as part of the achievement system.

    Title:
It would have to work retrospectively as some achievements are VERY hard to get. It would simply not be fair towards players who have spend like half a year trying to get for example Emperor achievement, but because they already have it, they dont get any Crowns / Gems and they have to do it again.
Also, I think it will only bring a HUGE wave of various achievement farming exploits, EMP selling, HM vet X dungeon carry runs etc.
Overall, although I think the Idea is decent, I dont see it happening.

I don't mind grinding, but generally I've never found rep grinds fun. MMO games should be finding ways to make the grind more enjoyable, not just creating more grinds and rewards at the end of it.

I don't understand why we can not have crowns in playing ... even in the daily rewards this said (I don't speak of colossal sums of course, something like 200 crowns at the end of the month for example) ... especially that I think we are more inclined to buy crowns if we say ''with what I received, I only miss x crowns to buy such thing ''

Fallout 76 has this too. I do enjoy getting Atoms to spend in their store to use on cosmetics. :) I only mention this because it's a ZOS/Bethesda MMO.

You'd award the Crowns if they had the achievements already.

As for exploits... good point. I think you'd maybe only be able to give out Crowns for solo content, such as the main story etc. This would actually be a great way to get people back into questing. I'm sure many current end game players got Cadwell's Gold back in the day but no longer touch questing due to burn out.

It would almost have to be once-per-account, because otherwise you run into the problem of Bots or players farming for the achievment, deleting the character, and farming again, thus racking up a lot more than the Devs intended. With crowns, you can't exactly do the bound-to-backpack thing ZOS does for character specific awards likehte EXP scroll you get from the Clockwork City questline.

And it would have to be retroactive...except that ZOS didn't make the Level up rewards retroactive for existing players. So chances are, ZOS wouldn't make these retroactive either, preferring to incentivize making a brand new character to get those achievements/crowns.

I agree. However the game atm has a very poor achievement/reward system and there is no reason to visit most of the areas in the game after you 've completed them. And after the one Tamriel patch, which was a very succesfull one don't get me wrong, there is no feeling of allegiance towards a certain faction or alliance unless you are playing in Cyrodiil.
And Eso is it's own game. Reputation gaining can be adjusted to an acceptable level or become a completely new thing. It doesn't have to be compared with the grinding systems of other games.
Having said that reputation gaining in swtor was one of my favorite things to do while I was playing that game. And the legacy system was also cool because I could unlock utility and qol perks among other things.

Rep grind that gives a currency to inlock special weapons motif pages and furnishings for the region you in heck maybe even toss in an expensive coffer we can buy that has random arena trial weps like say vma weps drop in green rarity wep is random type and trait and costs alot.

Be liek daily world boss and delve give like 5 currency and costs like 250 to buy coffer. Gives wrothgar, craglorn, murkmire some new life for those who just can't get a group or solo vma etc. Same bad rng and random traits and takes several weeks to do it.either way you still may not get that bow or staff lol

You do make a good point about the character based achievements. While what SWTOR gave was more of a token amount of coins they have better control to make it work equally for everyone and not be abused.
