1st person combat

I dont know if this belongs into this category.

When you play 1st person it might happen you cant see your enemies (or anything at all) due to an overload of visuals.

Example: Stamden with DW using poisons.

- The poisons use half the screen left and right in black'n green
- Leeching Vines on cast is a blue effect in the center of the screen
- CP:Steed:Reinforced is a red-ish bubble like the bubble from Resto: Steadfast Ward

At this point you basically cant see your enemy anymore. And those are only a few visuals and only solo combat.
Would it be possible to reduce this visual spam in 1st person ? And could we get 1st person riding please ?

I literally NEVER play in 1st person. I lose too much situational awareness and the trade off is not worth it for me personally.

When i fight hard encounters i need to switch to 3rd person too.

    BUT !!!

Anyone who wants to start a new character and wants to play all quests should give this a try. This is a very different and very rewarding gameplay. You are not so much overpowered by CP or One Tamriel buff and you are more aware of details.

I do regret it that i didnt roll the whole warden through 1st person.

I guess the game just wants you to play in 3rd person perspective and punishes you for roleplaying in first person.

lol. I bet 1000 gold they do some testing in 1st person. Many things make much more sense in 1st person :) At least in old zones

An assumption player bring with them from other games. Just as the assumption that Zeni does not know what they are doing. Pure ignorance tbh. This is the game they want or try to make real.

1st person removes a lot of power creep and makes you aware of your environment. You miss much less books. You see your enemies face. Monster or Mer. All targeting works much better in 1st.
You can beat anything IF you play as intended. If i want to solo the Iron Orc boss in Craglorn, then i need 3rd person view or the adds tear me apart. With a small group i dont need 3rd person there. They nerfed Craglorn a lot, but i did Craglorn Pilgrim in 1st person for example.

This was bought up in a round table as someone told Rich and Rob there was an add-on which already allowed for it, they didn't know about the add-on but noted and took notes. Not saying this means anything will come from it but they've at least heard about the desire for it face to face and been told how it's possible because an add-on already does it.

I once tried vMSA in 1st person ... that was a cool experience.
And also playing in WW form in 1st person in Skyrim was funny, this should be possible in ESO, too.

I enjoy playing in first person for solo storyline questing. Just walking around in the world feels a lot more immersive. This is a lot easier when you're a tank though.

I started out the game on 1st person (because honestly, other than ESO who ever plays in 3rd person unless you're forced to), and once I eventually went over to 3rd person I thought I'd never get used to it.

Now, I'm not sure how I could ever go back to 1st person. You're missing too many visual cues.

It's fun for questing, feels like a Single Player Game.

3rd person give you a lot of advantages, even in shooters hahaha

Imho the game was planned for 1st person with 3rd person as an option, then it shifted to 3rd person with 1st person as an option.

In fact, disorient made much more sense in 1st person view

For the records. The addon does not work with the gamepad UI.

I only use 1st person to take some screenshots, and then, I hate any visual effect I have on my screen.
(I play 3rd person with max field of view. I'd like to see someone try the vault protector in frostvault, exclusively in first person...)

Personally 1st person gives me a headache, never mind the loss of field of vision. Not to mention it feels like my eyes are at the height of my kneecaps, if the camera was situated higher I might give it another try and see if I could get over the headache part, but I feel no particular desire to run around with my nose practically in the ground.

That said, I'm all for less visual spam. Even in 3rd person it's... a lot at times.

This is factually wrong. 1rst person was not even in the game during it's playable showcase at PAX east in boston.

correct, it was designed for 1st person until the fan based complained since no Elder Scrolls title ever had 1st person missing before.

But they had to fight with an aging engine to get it added; why else does it suck for combat lol.

SirAndy lol. And the poll he linked was from 2016 and with a 71% preference for 3rd person view. In 2019, we have more WoW refugees than in 2016, and they all play 3rd person. At that percentage, it might as well be 90+% lol.

They should start a new poll and see how that old 71% changes lol

The camera height is based off your character's height. The difference between playing a high elf and a wood elf is pretty noticeable.

In any case, I play in 1st person on a regular basis and don't really have problems with it. I can see where the OP is coming from, though. There are settings that let you have a glow around enemies you are targeting, and that is plenty good enough to be able to see things. Leeching vines is pretty annoying, though, I'll definitely give you that one.
