Too Many Alts, please help

That way I'd not forget to do my riding training every day on all my characters, since I always log out in my house!

✭✭✭✭✭I log out in Vivec City. Whichever account is next up for writs and play is logged out at the stable. So I always know which is which! Sometimes, at my age, that can be an issue....2 -

Not just my main account is full, but my second account, and my third and don't forget that each account is full for Europe as well. I was very happy to get another account slot with this expansion to be able to make even more alts.
How do I cope? I don't. Many have been ignored for years. After the recent double XP event I actually played some characters that hadn't done more than events, crafting and horse training since 2014. I was shocked by how bad the gear was that I used back then. White crafted gear with no traits and no glyphs in sets like Death's Wind. I guess that was all I could make.
I have my "main" on each account that I try to play regularly and a second toon on each account that I am working on to level, get skyshards, undaunted or whatever. By focusing to a small degree it does make things more sane. And when I read in chat that "we need X for Y" I always have someone suitable available. XD

✭✭Just ignore most of them and just focus on 3 at a time, when your satisfied one of those 3 are fully fleshed out, start on the next and so on.
That way you got characters ready to play, if you actually want to do something, instead of having a stable full of partially complete characters that are not ready to do anything with.1 -

That said, each char I make is actually exactly the same elf except for class/spec and playstyle. Her looks, race are identical across characters. Even her name is the same with only the slightest/creative changes for the game to consider discrete from each other. My approach with her play is that she is indeed the exact same elf and whether she decides to pick up a healing staff and play for a bit as a magplar healer or to pick up a pair of bows and play as a bow/bow stamsorc is a decision she makes as lightly as a costume or hairstyle change. Game features that are account bound (mounts, pets, costumes, CP, etc) help this along quite a bit.
@AcadianPaladin This is so interesting as I've done something a dash similar. Some of my characters are related to each other. I have Bosmer triplets: a warden, a templar, and a necromancer. (Guess which one played with his food one day and discovered he had special powers?) I have a Breton auntie and her niece and then some Altmer siblings. The rest haven't met each other yet, I guess.Pick one, set a goal. Work towards that goal. Once finished, pick another goal... either on that character or another.
Don't pick something easy either, like get mount speed to 60, because that is just a momentary thing, it takes many (many) consecutive days of logging in and seeing the stable (for all of 2 seconds) to finish off. Choose a quest line, max out Mages/Fighters/Psijic... whatever is useful for that character. Fill in the gaps in the skill toolbox. Not all skills are applicable to every situation/dungeon/delve.
That's what I do, and it's satisfying to round out a character fully. I still haven't finished and I only have 8, but I'm working through them, one at a time.

corpseblade✭✭✭Between three PC accounts and both servers I have about 75 characters (and more to come). I like making new alts when migraines strike (I have a lot of migraines lol). But rather than get fussed about what I don't have time to do, I look at it as freedom. Every time I sit at the desk and pull up the screen, I spread my arms wide and ask myself what do I want to do TODAY.
My alts develop personalities as I play them so I can go hot and cold. ESO nerfing a class or race can change the play so they make go on vacation and be set aside for awhile. NEVER deleted. I may choose to farm restfully, look for skyshards or do delves or level crafting on as many as I have time for, or decorate the house I have chosen for them.
As for horses, I sometimes do one account or just a few. I look at training as an investment. They will be there later when ready. I don't need to play them today. And if I don't get the training down immediately on them all, at least a couple have.
Finally I love questing, but I tend to do that with only one or two at a time. Guild lines, the main quest, and the prologues to the expansions help me decide a direction. Plus Alliances.
Finally, I don't rush. I played since beta (took a short time off after the launch from hell) and I only recently hit 50 on a couple of characters in 5 years. I take a loooong time since neither end game or pvp is my goal. Relaxed enjoyment is.
So relax. My recommendation is to have fun. Fight any voice in your head that says you HAVE to do a particular thing. NO YOU DON'T!! Have fun. This is not work.
Find people who play like you do, even if it's just to talk or ask advice. There are more of us then you realize.2 -

While I wish you didn't have migraines, I do agree with your method. And yes, end game == ICK; relaxed enjoyment is PRIMO.1 -

Seriously, if you want to pick one or two to level, make a spreadsheet or just get a notebook. Make a chart. What things are most important to you? How high you've leveled the character? Most motifs learned? Most recipes or furnishing plans? Highest level in horse training? Neatest character bound stuff? Most gold earned? Do you have one that you just enjoy playing more than the others? Write down the levels/numbers/whatever criteria you choose. Then pick one or two to seriously level. Give that one all the unlearned motifs, recipes, and furniture plans. You don't have to delete any of them, but you should have at least one being a good enough crafter/potion maker/glyph maker to make stuff for the rest of them. Set one up to succeed and that one will help them all succeed. If you spread your resources out over a dozen characters, you'll never have any one that is ready to make high level gear or run end game content. If you don't care about that, fine. It's your game. You can play it however you want. But if you want to get into higher level stuff you will have to pick one character to concentrate on.2 -

And creativity, and fun and etc. I was mainly thinking I needed to have more focus when in fact, it's just fine how I'm doing. (I can't imagine having more than one account; kudos to those of you that can keep it all straight.)

Good advice, here, @LadySinflower, to be sure. I do have a main character whom I'm working on getting Master Crafter on. All motifs and recipes that he hasn't learned go to him; the rest either to my second in command character or others or auctioned or put in guild bank or vendored. He'll also be my Master Fisher, should I continue to work on that one day. I use him to make leveling sets for my alts. I have 4-5 level 50 alts that I'm working on outfitting. It's just a matter of focusing on one long enough to do it.
