Zenimax Locking Goodbye Threads

You are not supposed to say goodbye and what forced you to, according to TOS

You are not supposed to declare your dissatisfaction if you do it bluntly, despite them neglecting you whatever the attitude, according to moderation.

You are not supposed to discuss moderation according to TOS.

You are not supposed to raise any kind of awareness about the mishandling of an issue related to the community or to attempt to organise a boycott against ZOS and their product according to all aforementioned.

You are officially welcome to ZOS praise forums...

Goodbye threads are boring as **** and written by people who seem to think they matter somehow. I don't know the authors from a hole in the ground and couldn't care less why they left anyway.

This a good example of why they get closed, even a thread about goodbye threads turns into a brawl.

To be honest it has probably, in the present case, very little to do with the topic on hand. At this stage, we could probably start a thread about advanced algebra or about the gender of snails, and that one person would probably try (and succeed) to make a brawl out of it.

Generally the latter, dressed up as the former.

Telling the forum youre gonna stop playing isnt the proper use of said forum.

    Why?

Because you thought that all on your own, or because someone (who could run/work for one of these games companies) told you that was the case?

Can you even remember why you started thinking that, in the first place?

Says who? Can you cite your source?

    Says Gina, here.

Yes and it is her job to say that.

Who has said it and explained their (unbiased) reasoning behind it, who definitely doesn't have a vested interest to do so?

Or who hasn't, at some point, been persuaded to think that by someone who does?

Umm you just regurgitated the forum rules. Re-read my post. If you need help, find the nearest elementary school playground.

Again, cite a credible source. I'll wait.

    LoL.
The forum rules are PRECISELY the source of "proper use of the forum".

No, they're the proper source for the forum rules, made by the company who runs said forum.

They are not the definitive source for what is, or isn't, really, proper use of a games forum.

That is what people are (correctly) pointing out.

    Except there's no better source.
In RL societies there are several ways of defining a common norm for social behaviour : elections, power, morals/religions, usage, culture, habits, etc. None of them are "perfect", none of them represents an absolute reference.
In online communities (which this forum is), there's practically no better way than for the site owner than to define such norm (aka "proper use") himself and moderate accordingly. I've seen countless forum or equivalent community sites/tools try to go the way of no moderation, or self-moderation, and it simply doesn't work.
In the present case, it is true that closing goodbye thread comes in handy for ZOS in order to not spread negativity, but it is also true that goodbye threads are of no interest for anyone and merely a pollution. Why keep something that's an annoyance for everyone ?
