Question about GPU?

DesertYeti
Hey all, looking into upgrading my graphics card and I'm planning on getting either an NVidia GTX 760 or 770. I'm Currently running a gigabyte z68xp-ud3p motherboard with 8gb ram and an i5 2500 3.3gHz chip with an old NVidia GTX260 core 216 gpu

Would I be better off upgrading to a GTX 770 with 2gb RAM or getting the 760 with 4GB RAM? I've seen that the extra 2GB can be beneficial with some games, but will it make enough of a difference with ESO or GW2 to make it worth it?

You only need a lot of GPU ram for very high resolutions (above 1080p) or multiple displays. Id go for the 770. I have a 670 (basically the same thing) and it runs the game normally at 90+ fps at 1080p on ultra.

get a 770 with 4gb Vram that way you will be all set with newer games vram requirements and can sli in the future if need be.

GPU Vram is only useful at high resolutions, or games that use very high resolution textures. If you're playing on one monitor at 1920 x 1080p, the GTX 770 2 GB is a far better deal.

It's the card I use, and even in Cyrodil, I rarely go over 1.3 GB of VRAM usage. It's a beast of a card.

yea but thats the case now, id spend the little extra and be future proof. Plus with higher res monitors becoming much more affordable why limit yourself?

    Nice, that helps.
Thought about the 770 with 4GB, but right now that's just a little more than I can spend(originally budgeted around $300).

look on ebay thats where i got mine there are a few for under 300 right now!

There is no such thing as future proofing but even if there were, 2gb of Vram is plenty unless you are using multiple screens or a retardedly high resolution. The 770 is the far better deal.
