If you play on One you can also play on Xbox Two. PS5 and Two is just an upgrade similar to how pro and X is.
Diference is that the jump is higher and PS5 and Two games don't need to be able to run on previous version.
As other say ZoS don't have an account transfer mechanism not even between US and EU servers. And say they do not bother develop one.

Their pvp rank houses guilds pets all of their stuff got transferred. If they can do that they can transfer between what ever they want. You just have to keep begging and be politeIf you play on One you can also play on Xbox Two. The current projections are that Microsoft's next Xbox will be around 40% faster then the PS5. The Xbox Anaconda will be way more powerful then most gaming PC's at launch, while the PS5 only aims at current RTX2080 (non Ti) performance, which is faster then PS4, but not a good start for another 5 year solid cycle for Sony.
The PS5 is build with game streaming in mind, and even there Sony is relying on Microsoft's Azure platform. Also don't think about transferring any account to or from the Playstation church, Sony forbids this fiercely.
For the next Xbox the expectation is that Microsoft will integrate Xbox Live completely into PC gaming as well, so the scenario will be that every Xbox game will be 100% interchangable (if not the same platform) with Xbox Live on PC and backwards to Xbox Live on Xbox. Microsoft both owns Windows and Xbox, so they decide what will be possible.

I'm curious to read up on this.
The likelihood of Sony communicating with zenimax to make this possible is prolly unlikely.
Sadly these console developers are not amazing at working with pc developers in the slightest. I’ve been in several games where they’ve made developers lives hell for trying to build anything between platforms.
I don’t think zenimax can hold these kinds of services without going through them really.

Zos could do it. Ff14 has their own login account, meaning zos could create one as well (but they are too lazy to do that). I can log into ff14 on a PC, log off then get on my PS4 right after and play the same exact game. So yes they could make it so you could play on all 3 platforms, but the way they make the login prevents them from doing it.

Will we be able to transfer characters from one platform to the other when the next generation of consoles are released?
I wouldn't mind paying for such a service. Or even a convoluted route like go Xbox to PC, PC to PS5 etc. Is something like this being considered? Or some sort of cross-play options etc?
I know we have a while yet, but just forward planning

Seems odd seeing someone wanting to switch from XB to PS considering PS has been a load of crap this past year and XB has actually been killing it.

Your character is stored on the server, it's merely database records in a database. Where you connect from is irrelevant.
Can I transfer my ESO account and characters between different platforms?
We have not built, and do not plan to build, the capability to move individual characters from platform to platform. We were only able to move characters in bulk for consoles once on June 1st, 2015... 01/03/2019
I don't think ZOS will give us character transfers just because there is a new generation of consoles.
What we can hope and ask for are improved performance and better graphics while playing ESO on one of the new consoles. It's frankly a console player's primary reason to stick around, IMO.

I could maybe go for that. One with better performing servers and coding. Seems to me it would be a long ways off; much longer than when next gen consoles will be here.Sandman929 wrote: »I don't think ZOS will give us character transfers just because there is a new generation of consoles.

I'd much rather start over with lessons (hopefully) learned with a next gen ESO.

Funny, I hear the exact opposite.
