Would you use Impaling Shards or Growing Swarm for your magicka Warden in Pvp?

I am trying to fill in the last free slot I have in my skill bar and I am considering one of these two abilities.

I have Skoria so either one of these would make it procc.

Growing swarm is only good once the effect is over and as for the Shards once enemies walk out of it it`s not doing any more damage. Also I am already using Elemental blockade with a frost staff so I am already slowing enemies with that.

Swarm rarely reaches potential in PvP. People are usually purged before 10 seconds is up, especially in large battles (where you'd think Swarm would shine) as Purify is on the ground everywhere. Go for the higher damage of Fletcher if you go that route.

Your question is too open ended. Look for synergies with current skills or to fill gaps. If you are centered around Impulse add Gripping Shards (or if you need an escape mechanism); Elemental Ring + Winter's Revenge (or for passive damage while you heal); Single target Burst or DoT build add Fletcher, etc.

Fletcher is a really strong dot when people don't dodge it, which is about 50% of the time. Still worth it tho imo especially for the 3% dmg buff.

Growing swarm spreads if you kill the target affected by it, even if it hasn't reached the 10 seconds.

Growing swarm has a trick to it: while each target can only be affected by one instance of the original DoT, they can be affected by multiple instances of a growing swarm DoT that's spread to them by another player.

So if you cast it on 3 targets, after the original DoTs all expire, each of the 3 will have 2 stacks of the growing part on them. (However, hitting them with growing swarm again will remove the extra dots from the spread mechanic)

It's a goofy trick for BGs if you can spam it onto a group of more than 2. Made Spinner's, Bright-Throat's, Skoria with 6 animal companion skills on front bar very fun
