Sounds like the Overland Content in this game is tailor made for you.

You insensitive clod! That he is old does not mean he is only good for overland.

I think he was just referring to the OP's request for slower paced "repetative but still immersive" gameplay.

Age stuff aside I like the idea. I've also wished for a long time that you could put harvestable items in your house that would respawn on a timer. You could have a garden and different things, could be really cool if they could manage the tech side of it. Doesn't seem that complicated but I bet under the hood they'd get tied in knots trying to implement it.

52 here. It was the well of Asheron's Call that drew me in back in 1999. I have had a presence in MMORPGs ever since.

Yes, I chased the pong ball many a time. And Basic was the only computer language my high school offered.

Let me know when the truly mature among us are ready to ban together in guild fellowship. Sign me up!

Now back to the game. Which... which toon was I playing again? ;)

"Older" players are quite common in MMOs, and it's a great thing imho. How many activities are there when people of an age range of 18 to 65+ can have fun together without it feeling forced? And it even works for people with disablities or ilnesses that exclude them from lots of popular activities or spaces.

Can and should gaming companies focus more on these customers? I'd say yes, and I suppose they're more than willing to cater to these customers - after all, they've got, you know, money.

More difficult question is this: how?

Adding fishing quests and dumbing down content is not, in my opinion, the way to go. When I look at my gaming "career" of now maybe 25 years, I'd say I'm smarter, possibly even more dedicated, but slower or at least less interested in fast-paced action games.
I still play the occasional shooter game, but they just feel a bit, tbh, stupid now. When I play those games, I feel bad at aiming, but still dangerous due to increased patience. Maybe I missed the other guy before he dived for cover. But while the "youngsters" lost their patience and went away, I lay in wait and waste the guy as soon as he tries to leave. But the fun in that is mostly gone - less competitive than in my younger years. It now feels better to help a noob than to frag him/her.
Is that a general trend? Maybe. If so, "smart" encounters may be better than those than only rely on reflexes. In ESO terms: less red circles, more puzzle-solving or strategy-based combat. Less solo or duel focussed pvp, more community activity.

    60 here ;)

Beside the great quests, I love resource farming, exploring and doing Delves and even public dungeons (almost :*) alone.

This is a great game to relax, I really love the nicely crafted maps, can never get enough of those. Once I'm retired I will go more into housing, just don't have enough time now.

For me one of the best games on the market the last couple of years <3

    81 year old underwear?

The nice thing about ESO dungeons is that knowing the mechanics means more than ultra fast twitch skills.

PvP can be another matter though. But, here comes the older player zerg!

    LOL thanks for that image

I'm starting to appreciate the much older generations that come play MMOs. Of course every group of players (and people) has it's toxic crowd, but I've noticed that older ones are much more chill in my opinion.

I remember joining a few crafting/RP guilds in here and other games with people who are old as my parents and all they wanted to do was just log in and afk. Used to listened to them have lots of "grown folks talk" about their lives, they give life lessons in exchange for crafting materials. Very wholesome stuff.

I'm 69. The solo PvE stuff is fine for me. I just keep my nose out of the PvP trials, battlegrounds, etc.

    Same age, same approach.

I've done PvP in the past, but no longer have the slightest interest in it. Then again, I also gave up bothering with formal groups (as opposed to cooperative play at dolmens, world bosses and delves) and guilds about the same time when voice chat became popular along with spamming random invites.

    I'm 71.

I solo quest, craft and build/decorate houses.

I don't group for dungeons as my twitch reflex disappeared a long time ago.

I will carry on gaming until I'm no longer able to sit at a PC.

ESO has been the perfect game for me for years, and I love it.

    Old codger here.

I like PvE mainly. Probably because I grew up with SP games - ESO is my first MMO. Been playing games constantly, since buying a copy of Morrowind in a charity shop for a quid or so.

And I don't feel "old" Don't find it hard to converse with peeps in their teens.

Maybe it's because those of us who grew up from the 1970s onwards are probably different to previous generations of teenagers. The teenage experience from the 70s onwards is probably quite similar. Only real difference between someone who was a teenager in the 70s, and one now, is the music, the slang and the clothing.

Yes, I wear them when attending Church, they are very holy.

On a side note, you know you are old when filling out the age sections of online forms when you have to scroll and scroll and scroll to get to your year of birth.

Pong and Legend of Zelda the original for the win!

What I remember about being a teen in the 70s was freedom to go wherever I could walk or ride my bike to. The only stipulation was “be back by dark”. This was before the news made it seem inevitable that all kids out alone would be killed. Either that, or my parents were hoping I wouldn’t make it back. Come to think of it, they always did look rather disappointed when I came home...

They hated how much time I spent on my Atari 2600 and would be appalled to see my ESO numbers. I’ll be in this game for as long as it is around and I am above ground.

I'm 71. Now that I've got better internet, I'm actually able to start really learning to play. Before, I couldn't do anything but mash buttons hoping something would land!

I'm starting to look at houses and furnishing them. I'm considering what quest lines I want to try, and I might start doing an occasional delve (I could even solo some of them with my previous horrible satellite connect).

Not at all into fishing - got burned out forever fishing in WoW and RIFT.... I solo quest, craft, explore *waves @Aurielle1 *; I can't do stuff like dungeons or trials either any more. Last raiding I did was in WoW, last dungeon instances in RIFT, both with family guilds.

I'm only 27 and I've thought about portable resource nodes that can be placed in Homes such as Ancestor Silk or Alchemy reagents that respawned once per day. These would give us usable Gardens. Or if we had a House with rocky terrain, a Rubedite node to make our own little mines.

A fishing hole for those Homes with water features would be nice too. The one in Rawl'kha is perfect for a fishing hole.
