Anyone having problems with taunting?

I'm not sure if this is since recent patch, or it is Necro as I've mostly been tanking on Necro since.

This is not a case of over taunt, sometimes Piercing does not engage taunt and I need to swap over to Inner fire.

I had noticed it a few times before I thought it must be lag but I just ran the pledges now and without fail taunt expires and I go to reapply (not spamming) when it is near the end and it does not refresh the taunt. I have to resort to swapping bars to Inner fire because the boss runs away. Sometimes, even Inner Fire does not engage it.

Just wanted to know if other Necros or tanks generally have had taunting issues recently.

I tank on all classes, necro too, and this happens only when someone in your group steals taunt. Often they don't even know what they are doing, and you have to ask them to stop taunting. Also some bosses have a mechanic where they randomly attack a groupmember and then return to you, and you can do nothing about it.

The tanks in my guild have been having the same issue. They'll get messages stating that the target is too far etc etc etc. They have to practically stack as one body for the taunt to work. Inner fire has been broken for a while now (delayed reaction)

There's also major lag that stutters taunts. But that is a Z problem, not a player problem.

Sometimes pierce lags and doesn't finish going off. YOu'll get the sound effect and even the animation - yet the taunt itself won't go off because the enemy moved toward the end of it or some other action happened. So this might be what's happening to you.

It's a common problem with melee attacks generally in this game - because the limited range makes the lag more noticeable against moving targets. It was hilarious to watch in PvP back when everyone was using those swift boosts. Melee couldn't hit anything.

Yeah I have trouble taunting at the moment, or I taunt something and it goes after someone else (who isn’t using a taunt) and then comes back to me. And then refreshing taunt doesn’t work sometimes as well. This among many other related bugs, is really starting to grind my gears. PC EU.

Can confirm no team mate had ice staves or inner fire running. It's not a case of agro steal. This was noticed on bosses with limited mechanics, BS2 keepers.

Interesting that people raise range + lag. The reason I isolated necro is because my other tank, who has fewer issues is a dk, which has melee range passive increase. Might be onto something there.

Last year when I was playing around with S&B taunt had no probs getting mobs attention...
now using Inner Fire and getting very mixed results.
The taunting abilities in this game suck and having encountered multiple bosses with mechanics that actually ignore already crap abilities just makes me wonder why we even have taunts in the first place.

Similar issue on Warden tank, I've assumed it's lag/dreadful server performance-related.

I experienced the same with taunting this patch Elsweyr too, taunted it but often it’s not even registered until you taunt it the 2nd time, I never had team mates in dungeons shouting me to taunt boss, but in this patch it happened a few times, I don’t think the problem is me, i tank and taunt everyday over 4 years in eso.
