The Dark Paladin - Magicka Necromancer 1vX PvP-Build

Hey guys,

since so many people keep asking me what I'm running I thought it would be a good idea to share this build, though I usually dont like that.
Keep in mind:
-this build was created to fit my personal playstyle
-I play mostly no CP, but u can adjust this build pretty easily with jewelry enchants/mundus to your likes
-I play solo 95% of the time in PvP

Without any further information, heres the build:

Sets
5x overwhelming surge (3x jewelry, 2x body)
5x clever achemist (3x body, 2x backbar)
2x pirate skeleton monster
1x perfected blackrose destro front

Race, mundus,potions and bufffood
Im a nord, but u can go with any actually.
Atro mundus
Tristatfood

Traits and enchants
Armor - Full impen - Tristat
Jewelry - 3x Infused - 3x Magrecovery
Weapon - Frontbar sharpened, Backbar Infused
we are in 5-1-1 light.
potion: spellcrit, immovable, magicka

Skills

Frontbar (shockstaff):
Pulsar - Scythe - Graveyard - Structured Entropy - Spirit Mender; Ultimate: Soul Assault

Backbar: (icestaff):
Breckoning Armor - Resistant Fleshl - Expunge and Modify - Wall of Elements - Rat/Mistform; Ultimate: Glacial Colossus

Notes:
No stun outside of ulti and breckoning armor cc, though I really play heavily outnumbered so a single target stun wont benefit me at all when fighting 5+ guys. I created this build to profit from most of the necromancer passives and what the class actually lacks of (+10% dot damage (brp destro + overwhelming), spell pen (benefits our procs even more), in build tankyness, lack of pressure etc.). Playstyle is pretty much run and gun, but u can easily wipe, EVEN GOOD PLAYERS, while they are chasing u around. WoE - Pulsar - Goliath - Scythe, all with clever alchemist and cc immune potion = goodbye people. It is even ok against good players in 1v1, lay your ground, expect them to be pulled and soul assault them.

if u have any question feel free to ask me here. IMO there is no stronger build for mag necro right now, ofc it is still not the best 1vX-Class, but this build is quite some fun, since it has a good mix of damage, sustain and tankyness. Especially the blackrose destro (spell pen + dot damage) is really good in magicka necros kit (build in spell pen + 10% dot damage, both are buffing Dot-proccs).

While I’ve thought of builds like this as well as single target versions... it just seems like a magwarden would still do this style better. Which puts me off from building it for a necro. Gg tho, not taking away from the build by any means.

    Exactly.

@Insco851 ofc, though magcro do have some advantages in that specific build. But IMO this is how U should build magcro and Not these alfiq/necro builds, HERE U are just a gimped sorc.

Absolutely. I’ve got a mutt build I’m going to try once I get it leveled. Not really in a rush while I try stuff tho.

Easiest pug-able arena. You can 2 man it with a tank honestly.

Crag prolly. Or a few friends on any build can beat it.

Yay, I know it's easy on normal, it's more about finding people willing to run it on normal and share their drops with me

    Light armor or Heavy?

I’m not OP, but 100% sure light

    Firsts, he stacks penetration
Second, pirate skeleton + necro heals provide enough defense in light
Third, I don’t think these sets can be sustained in heavy in noCP

Can you describe your style or how you play your necro by chance? Is it mostly ranged play or melee range?
Do you try and "trap" with boneyard and beckoning with scythe?
When do you typically hit alchemist or is it an on cool down thing?
Have you brought it into BGs at all and if so how did that feel?

    1. IT is mid range/meele. Wall of Frost is mid range, scythe+pulsar etc. is meele. IT actually really plays more like Templar/Warden not so much like sorc or ranged blade.
    2. Its not a cooldown Thing, use it wisely depending on the sotuation. If im chased by 5+Guys, I pretty much always time alchemist with glacial ult. 1v1 If IT IS a good one, but pressure with OS + Pulsar dot + woe IS actually decent. Think about Pulsar dot (also +minor mangle) Just Like dw master axes .
    3. Its mostly a solo cyro build, but since I usually always play No CP IT works great there too.

But keep in mind, that does Not make magcro a 1vX Monster, but this is what I found best to use for magcro and my playstyle with a lot of synergies inbetween build/class.

Have you ever tried adding ghostly embrace or grave grasp?
Looking for any guildies I used to play with:
    Havoc Warhammer - Alair
LoC EQ2 - Mayi and Iskiab
PRX and Tabula Rasa - Rift - Iskiab
Or anyone else I used to play games with in guilds I’ve forgotten

No, I dont have bar space and I didnt like the skill that much, felt very slow - not saying it could fit into other builds though. But here, my infused backbar frost wall of elements is compareable and proccs my spell dmg glyph in cooldown.

I agree about passives. Seems like many people excepted something else about necro and don't know how to utilize the passives. Meanwhile I'm able to break the 800k damage in <50 BGs with blue gear :D

For No-CP I'm planning a slightly different setup with grothdar, buffer and alessia.

Staff of which element buffs pulsar dot? Fire? Shock? None?

What about overhelming dot? Also fire?

What do you think of going lich back bar, changing some glyph/mundus into spell dmg? This can provide better sustain, and more sustained dmg (with less burst), which can be less useful in 1vsX, but more useful in BGs.

    1. I dont know, I went shock because of the other skills.
    2. Y, Sure. I thought that too, I Just didnt use it cause I still prefer Mist. I Just really Like CC immune potion with Alchemist. But backbar IS pretty much the "flex" Set, U could even Go something else.

Its decent in group play to line up ult dump for your big slam and keep them in it, i treat it like a magsorc treats meteor and rune. But im REALLY liking magelight instead for fat crits.
