Current burstiest magicka ability/class?

As the title says I'm kinda curious to hear what people regard as the single burstiest ability/class currently out there for Magicka. Not talking combos here though, only passive buffs taken into accounts, what ability just -melts- a mob/players HP? I'm veering towards Soul Assault with the Necro DoT passive?

Someone is still salty about sorcs in here... x'D

Leo, you gotta differentiate more. There's a big difference between PvP, PvE, abilities and class.
For players, magsorc is indeed overall the burstiest. Class was designed for it.
The single burstiest ability is the nightblade's Spectral Bow, however. For ultimates, Meteor has the biggest single-hit damage, but Soul Assault has higher burst dps over those four seconds.
For mobs I would say nightblades' Sap Essence is the burstiest move.

You could make an argument for MagWarden too with the bugs and soul assault, but why bother when you can have burst without an ultimate.

yeah, just use Magsorc instead. Magden is only good in a group PvP setting.

Magwarden will have better tooltip on soul assault then necro. Magden have 6 % magic dmg passive , minor berserk and 3% more dmg for each animal companion ability slotted where You always slot atleast 2 (deep fissure and bird of prey). That is atleast 20% more dmg on soul assault. Also I think magnecro could still reach bigger burst with collosus ulti then with soul assault thanks to major vulnerability that ulti applies.

Magsorc. I'm surprised you had to make a thread on this honestly. It's a pretty common knowledge among the community.

Read the first post before answering MagSorc. Sorc burst requires a combo of at least 3 abilities. MagWarden is similar, in that you need to line up a combo of multiple abilities.

The highest burst from a single ability is MagBlade’s Assassin’s Will.

Soul Assault deals a lot of total damage, but it is spread over several seconds and is not very bursty.

Who are all these Mag Sorcs who actually land Frags? Who exactly are you fighting? Are they distracted by someone else while you shoot them in the back from 28 meters away?

These replies are ridiculous. I got hit by a 21K Onslaught yesterday from a Stamblade friend of mine (yes, I have friends who are NBs). I have never, ever, ever, EVER hit anyone with a Frag that hard. In fact, I'm lucky to get a 10K Frag crit plus an 8K Curse crit at the same time. That's not enough to kill anyone in 1 GCD these days.

Spread over several seconds true, but I'd consider it pretty bursty no? Although if not, what's simply the single highest damaging ability then? On its own with no combos.

For burst I´d say Onslaught, you can get some hillarious hits on Mobs with it (and in PvP too), crit a PvE mob for over 120k.

If you count Soul assault as burst then destro ult will hit harder^^.

Mag sorc being burstiest mag class is common knowledge not about being salty it’s about answering truthfully to this post question.
