Suggestions for a support/team focused build - Templar (Magicka)

I'm new to ESO (not MMOs), about 2 months in and am CP325. Until now, I've just been exploring and running dungeons with friends which means all of my skills and gear is focused on healing. In the past, I've always played DPS, but I'm really enjoying the healing/support side of this game. Can someone give me some suggestions on how to get started with the same type of role in PVP? I've been reading different websites but the suggestions are all over the place. I get it, there is no one size fits all type answer, but I'm hoping for some general help with what I should be looking for in regard to stats (such as recovery, and health/stamina/magicka pools), from there, what gear sets to help fill in the holes, and some good PvP skills to start to use. I've been watching videos on the basics, so I'm fine there.

Recently, I've been doing the daily BG and have a friend who really likes PvP, so that brings me here. I find in BGs, I use LoS fairly well, but maybe it is my gear or skills, because when I get focused I am burnt down immediately. I've resided to the fact that I'm going to throw heals around and die instantly. So I know I need work and some general assistance with gear to help survivability.

Thank you for any input.

Transmutation/spc both back barred with 1h vd and shield. Front bar : vma resto of running magicka focused group that can handle themselves decently. Another option is brp resto if doing small group play. A third option would be vdsa resto for stam return when spamming healing springs.

In group play gotta look at barrier as an ult. Tell your group you have it and drop it when you engage or when the enemy engages you.

Don't get ganked ffs lol. Put radiant magelight somewhere on your bar, unless it's bgs

Transmutation is still awesome yes and you have hots in the arsenal. As a Templar I'd look at heavy armor sets that help debuff like fasallas duroks bane etc or sets that increase your ability to withstand shots, like combat physician cyrodiils light, pariah, impregnable etc.

You will need good maybe even great recovery+ High impen (2600 as a minimum, but 5k would make you solid) + potentially some sturdy traits. Are you a vampire? How will you obtain mobility?

For a weapon I'd choose destro/snb and go with lightning or frost. Dropping walls and immobilizes gives your side more fight control.

Invest in speed pots. Detect pots. Immovable pots. Spell power pots.

Good advice here. Frost Staff is really awesome for group play.

The skills you choose are important too. I like the following on my bars:

    Dark Flare
    AoE reduced enemy healing

    Shards
    AoE damage and group synergy

    Reflective Light
AoE DoT damage, slows enemies, provides improved crit chance

    Elemental blockade
AoE DoT damage, can immobilize or cause minor vulnerability (frost or lightning)

    Extended ritual
Purge, small HoT, can proc sets like Steadfast Hero or Transmutation

Also Vampire is not a must but very helpful in getting out of hairy situations with Elusive Mist.

Thanks fixed. Always forget that morph doesn't put out AoE damage, just AoE defile.

For BGs Transmutation is fantastic. Throw on Pirate Skeley and a damage set and youre good to go. You can adjust sets from there as you choose but thats a good start.

Great, thank you. How tough is it to get the Transmutation sets?

Disregard, I see the items sold off guild vendors.

If you’re doing small group PvP it’s hard to be full healer/support build. You really need to be able to add some damage to the group. If you really want to be full healer/support you need to stick to large group PvP.
