I think it would be awesome to add a healing/support type of guild where you can get some decent heal skills. At the moment, the only way to be a healer is to either make a Templar and use whatever weapons you want OR create any other class but you have to use a healing staff. I, for instance, want to make a 2H Sword using Sorcerer who happens to also have 1 heal skill as a backup but I can't do that

Yes you can.
3 options. Use the Entropy from mages guild for a hot, Blood altar from the undaunted guild for aoe heal, or use a potion for direct heal.

Edit: 4th option; From the sorcerer skill line Dark Magic: Dark Exchange, channeled heal.

Thanks, @Ganesha but looks like Blood Altar is the only option for healing other players. It would be nice to have just a hair more variety.

Well, you can go 2h sword + resto staff. With weapon swap from lvl 15 it is possible.
On the other hand, making a healing guild skill line would probably just end up making it a must have for PvP, and I know they are trying to avoid "must have" skills. So I doubt we will see it in any close future. This though is just speculation.
