Are there really meta pvp builds? From what I've seen pvp builds have just a ton of diversity. How would one even determine most common pvp builds since lots of people are a little protective of their pvp builds?

khajiitNPC✭✭✭✭✭I’m not sure what you mean. He provided the most commonly used sets. For the most part in highly competitive duels or group play most classes will have the same skills with a very little differences. They might sub out one skill for another but for the most part it’s all the same.2

khajiitNPC✭✭✭✭✭Are you asking for a particular class? I think the premise regarding “diversity” is fundamentally wrong. I know some people will say ‘my build is a secret’ but a lot of the time it’s a build that’s been around for a while or it’s a niche build for specific situations.
As far as building goes, for myself, I tend to be more well rounded. My damage isn’t insane, my max stat isn’t insane, my regen tends to be higher than most, and most of my damage sits between 2k and 3k. I don’t think my primary ability pool is above 32k on most builds.
Something I find different in ESO compared to other MMO is that your sets are very much part of the build. 2nd to your class and weapon abilities/ability to play the game.1 -

mursie✭✭✭✭✭outside of sets your 12 slot build should try to incorporate the following:
1. a heal
2. a stun
3. a spammable
4. an armor buff
5. a damaging ult
6. a defensive ult
7. utility to support the above
For stamina #1 is vigor. additional utility heals are added depending on class. magicka have various heals
#2 is various across all classes. dizzy, reverb are common stam stuns. clench a common magicka one.
#3 varies
#4 varies
#5 - dawnbreaker for most stam. magicka varies
#6 - temporal guard is extremely popular with 8% minor protection. otherwise varies
the remainder are utility for key buffs as needed.
Stam toons pick nord, orc, woodelf, redguard race. Magicka primarily breton and high elf. the rest are kitchy niche selections
select your meta armor sets as desired
build your 12 slots per above.
round out the key stats you need with mundus and food.
popular mundus: serpent, apprentice, warrior, atronach, steed, lover
popular foods: clockwork citrus, artaeum takeaway broth, witchmother's brew, dubious cameron

What you really need to do is roll a Stamina Nightblade. Make sure you use a Bow so you can unlock Snipe. Then, use cloak to run around invisible at all times and just spam Snipe.
Gear won’t matter. You might die once or twice, but hey, can’t win ‘em all, amirite?!3 -
