[Spoiler] How is Sai Sahan back?

Inb4 Meridia saved him somehow much like she saved Darien, if you sacrificed him.

I'll kill Lyris on my new character just to make Sai salty when we meet again.

If they're REALLY ambitious about player choices they could make Lyris take his place instead if he was the one who died...but that's probably too much work.

Forget all this. I didn’t sacrifice Sai. I wanted to. I WANTED to sacrifice THEM ALL. I liked Caldwell. His showing up in Elsweyr is cool. I just hope Sai ain’t a follower in any future quests. (So much for hoping lol). Oh well I’ll just skip his dialogue and destroy the rewards lol.

I wanted to sacrifice Tharn, but that wasn't possible. Every time I considered Lyris or Sai, the Prophet would open his mouth and I always ended up picking him. Oh well.

    Sai:Dead? You thought wrong.

I'm curious what will happen in my playthrough of dragonhold. The char I'm planning to do this with, won't at all be the one I did the main quest with. I divided all the content between chars, mostly alongside alliance orders, all of them existing in the same continuity in my mind.

Since 1Tamriel, you can throw the story progression out the window.

I have Abner Tharn talking to me in the mages guild, his envoy telling me to go see him, yet I haven't even rescued him from Coldharbor yet and should have no idea who he even is.

I can find Raz in about 4 different places before I meet him on the starter island if I want.

One Tamriel KILLED the story timeline. You just have to learn to live with plot holes around here. It's what happens when you are creating new stories on the fly - sometimes they contradict the current story.

You were able to do quests out of order way before One Tamriel.

It's been mentioned a few times in this thread, and I know it existed, but I never encountered the Prophet/Varen when I played through Orsinium, and I'm fairly certain I did everything there was to do in Wrothgar. I found the book/letter that was written by Darien, though.
Do you have to do Orsinium on a character who has completed the Main Questline for him to appear?

Then if you chose him to die, his sacrifice is worthless because it has no meaning. Molag Bal wins.

Pretty sad that they're not creative enough to come up with a new hero.

Just the fact that we can repeat dungeons on the same character makes continuity a bit silly. Sure, I don't get the questline the second time, but I am still killing someone I already killed. When I do a pledge, a quest giver is telling me to kill someone who I already killed. I love ESO, but this is why I stick with SP RPGs otherwise.

I always chose Varen, so Sai Sahan returning is no issue.

I think I chose Sai Sahan on an alt. I just don't know which alt.

Same. For one of my 11, Sai is dead. One the prophet is dead, the rest Titanborn is dead.

So i wonder how that'll work out for my one character. ????

Maybe you have a crush on Lyris and want to eliminate the competition? Maybe you are a diehard Imperial loyalist and could never kill the Emperor? Maybe Sai's noble swordmaster schtick just gets up your nose.

Season of the Dragon is terrible for anyone who wants a coherent storyline for the entire game.

Elsweyr does not really have a definite spot in the timeline. It can come before the events of the main quest. I don't think any reference is made to Molag Bal or the resolution of the Soulburst. There might be an offhand reference to what happened to Varen, indicating that the events of the main quest have already started.

I am thinking that Firor is right. Elsweyr could be a perfect starting place for new characters. If they retcon future interactions with certain characters that will be met later so that the character is recognized, then I think the best place for Elsweyr is prior to the main story.

The only outlier in that is Sai Sahan. He cannot be in Elsweyr in all cases: before, during, and after the main quest. They should have left him out of this one.

The problem with having Elsweyr happen before the main story is that all of the companions were stuck in Coldharbour. Sai, Lyris and the Prophet were prisoners and Tharn had very little freedom and was closely watched.

That isn't a problem if Elsweyr takes place before the Soulburst, by some scheme.

However, I agree with you. Things fall apart because Sai Sahan shows up. Abner, well, he was a cohort, not a prisoner, at least at the start.

ZOS thinks they have some clever reason that Sai can be there, but the real reason he is there is because they are dredging up characters from other stories and reusing them in an increasing number of cases.

There is mention of the planemeld in the Elswyer story line and Tharn is clearly older so the events in Elsweyr can't have happened before the soulburst

I killed Sai Sahan because at the time I was stam and I wanted to infuse myself with his great power, and not that of some wrinkly old goat. That being said later in Orsinium shortly after completing the main questline for it I get a projection of Varen foreshadowing things to come, before he basically croaks on me.

Considering that the anniversary event hyped up the major players of the main quest, perhaps Sai is replaced by Lyris if you sacrificed Sai.

Lyris doesn't have a celebrity voice actor and isn't canonically dead like the Prophet, so it's possible she could return.

The prophet is not canonically dead.

Yes he is. Regardless of what you choose, he appears before you at the end of Orsinium and even says "I cannot aid you in the coming battle. My time in this world is at an end. I must take my place in the Immortal Plane. Farewell, old friend. We will not speak again."

Apologies for delving up a semi-old post!
But i was playing through the main quest line again (cause i needed a char that killed Sai, just to see what it would cause with the new dlc)

And at the end, I asked Varen what happend to Sai, and he responded with this:
(I think that's answer for any of the options that you chose to sacrifice)
    tumblr_pvncjfacOP1rc0c7jo1_540.jpg

But it basically implies that Sai could be brought back with a ritual of some sorts, right?

I sacrificed him on all my alts. One of the most boring and irritating characters in the game. That's meh that they brought him back.
