    Gameplay > immersion

I come from the king of communities when it comes to crying about "muh' immersion"...

Elite Dangerous. Don't go there. People insist on a reason for everything there. Space sim bois be weird...

    *shudders*

Well, constantly being attacked by pirates based on "I heard you got some sweet cargo" when you're 3000 light years outside of any known civilized space tends to raise a few questions.

"Oh, you just 'heard' I had some sweet cargo? All the way out here? For some salvaged junk? From who??? I don't think so."

True. That's all I can say to that.

Suffice to say I'm done with Elite. Especially now knowing they can't even handle cheats. Why even bother with PvP?

Ew... Got pretty bad, then? I haven't played since last year some time.

Let me put it like this: To get banned for cheating in ED, you have to livestream with a title along the lines of "I protest against cheats by using cheats on livestream".

Oh and it turns out the guy who did just that was secretly using cheat for a long time before that in PvP battles.

Yeah I'm done with ED for now. What's the point of any PvP? Fd does nothing.

“Opting out” of the Justice System (when players simply need to git gud at their thieving and lockpicking) is still one of the worst all-time ideas presented in the forums.

Guards should be killable. Ramp up the bounty for killing one and have them respawn fast like litany of blood. My opinion.

What breaks my immersion re: guards is their constant aggressive hostile rudeness toward players. Who the hell spends all day being snippy at celebrity war heroes and doesn't get their ass busted for it? Lame.

Should we talk about that guy that dusts the floor in front of the bank in Evermore ? He's about as hostile as any guard, all the while trying to make himself appear important, while he's entirely useless.

I mean, he's a dust-sweep, and even this is a very respectable and useful job by itself, he's dusting a floor made of dirt. At least guards do serve some purpose. At least, that guy is killable.

A lot of things would kill the immersion for me if I tried to seriously roleplay. Invincible guards don't bother me, if anything they add to my enjoyment by providing an incentive not to get caught, but I do think it would be interesting to have a mode of play where your bounty never resets in order to make playing a criminal character more challenging.

I mean, why am I running around helping people and saving entire kingdoms for all kinds of atrocities when a single freaking guard from any one of these 5 person towns can just wipe the floor with me? I mean seriously, I might as well retire to some bar somewhere and just let one of these guards save the world because im willing to bet they could easily 1v1 Bal and freaking win. Dragon, no problem, your town has a guard doesnt it? Another King or Queen has to fight some unspeakable horror, guard. Daedric God attacking your town, I bet if you pay a guard a little more than he or she is making walking the beat, they could do it easily.....why even ask me? Just doesnt make sense and ruins the game on a certain level for me.

It's not realistic - but necessary. If you could kill guards then there would be no risk. Players could simply murder and steal at their leisure.

Here's the thing though. In the single player versions of all the elder scrolls games, you kill enough people or guards, you cant progress. Not being able to go into towns and get quests, interact with NPCs is the punishment and after a while of that, you self correct that behavior because otherwise, you cant play the game. Harsher penalties for bad behavoir is the answer, not God like guards.

Here's the thing though. This is an MMO, not a single player game. Everything respawns & resets. There's not going to be a "you angered Faction X, you can no longer enter towns in Zone Y" penalty, or anything like it. That can be fine for a SP narrative game that has an 'end' (and also saved games & reloading), not for a hordes-of-players-messing-around MMO that has to be able to be played forever.

I agree that we should be able to kill them. One of my characters has completed the Auridon main story questline & every time a guard calls me a traitor for killing the "true" queen, I would LOVE to be able to turn around & murder his face right off. That would be an APPROPRIATE action, given that his statement is treason against Ayrenn.
