Google Stadia?

Will I be able to play my PC characters, or transfer my characters like they did at the console launch?

Isn't Stadia just a replacement for in-home hardware, rather than a new server? I haven't looked into it, but from what people have said, it sounds like a game streaming service.

It works by having servers and processing power independent from the device that you are using.

They claim that you can play any game with high graphics and frame rate on anything that can run a YouTube video on HD. They will handle the processing power, and you stream the game.

ESO has been officially named as a game at launch.

What I don't know is if I have to make a new account, or can play with my current one.

I doubt you'll have a new account, it'll play on the same PC servers most likely. However if you like your addons, then you'll be out of luck.

I was hoping I can just log into my PC account with this. I figured that the addons would be an unfortunate casualty.

Do you know if anyone at Zenimax has said anything? I only knew that they are a launch title through an IGN article.

The ESO program's just a client. On the login screen, it has spots for you to type in your account name & password.

Whether it's running on your hardware in your house, or on a streaming service, shouldn't make a difference.

(does Steam have the same login screen? Or does it auto-fill your account info?)

...but why would someone want to play an MMO, which already has enough issues with lag/latency/servers, with another layer of Game Streaming Service stuck in the middle?

Steam auto-fills your account info. I started out with Steam, it was a total balls-up for me on satellite - even more lag, and frequent DCs as well as just not able to login at all. I bought a copy of the game on sale from the ESO store, and started using the eso64.exe for login (and the ESO normal launcher to get patches). Works much better.

There's a big difference though between processing the graphics locally and streaming it - Stadia's stated bandwidth requirements are insanely high. ESO right now is a light user of bandwidth.

QFT. Dropped wildblue sat in favor of hughesnet. In the week since the changeover, I've used about 5 mb of down bw. Since I play ESO from about 7 am to 4 pm every day....
