I am curious about how y'all feel about this. You don't have to be the Vestige now (although lots of in game mechnics wouldn't make sense if you are not one), you are a living person with your soul and body intact, do you still consider youself the "Vestige"?

✭✭I play a buncha 'toons that have never started the official story line, never gone to speak with the prophet at all.
One 'toon got hijacked in a ship I was exploring in Vulkhel Guard harbor, and it ticked me of so badly that I almost deleted the 'toon as 'tainted', but I settled for never following up on the storyline tie-in for that 'toon after that unfortunate incident.The problem with society these days is that no one drinks from the skulls of their enemies anymore.1 -

Not that a real life equivalent matteres, just saying it's typical that certain titles stay with you, even if you no longer are associated with the thing that gave you that title.
In lore, you were the one and only vestige. You traveled and saved the day countless times over. You are known across the land as that title.
Even if you consider yourself "former vestige", vestige is still a part of it.0 -
Devanear✭✭✭✭NoI don't consider any of my characters the Vestige. As I play them, I see which storylines make sense to them and those become part of their story, the others are just events that happened and they learn about, but never actually experience themselves.0 -

Coggage✭✭✭✭NoI did the Prophet questline on a few characters, 4 or 5 years back but once alternatives came out I never bothered with it again. I just got bored with it, but one of these days I might do it again after a long enough absence makes it sort of fresh and interesting again.1

VDoom1✭✭✭✭✭YesI know I don't have to, but it just doesn't feel right if I don't finish the main quest. However I use it mainly to level alts now, once they get to level 45 main quest. So I always want it finished before getting to lvl 50.

✭Yeswell at all I play character without doing queswts and even mian quest...maybe I will touch 1st few of this for skillpoints but even if I do every of those I still have to go through couldharbour which I even havnt started on every other character except my retired main.....so for me this is not aobut if I feel playing as vestige...this is as every my character still is vestige because I dont care about this xD gg0 -

^ This is the reason to play out the main story line, it can be done in 3 hours or so, (6 hours if you add in grinding out Coldharbor too.) I usually start the questline out at level 25 or so, and pick up the fighters guild skill line before starting. That way with all the undead and dremora I'm killing along the way, I'm usually at fighters guild level 4 or 5 by the time I'm done."We have found a cave, but I don't think there are warm fires and friendly faces inside."0 -

✭Yes and no. I have at least 3 copies of my protagonist in different classes, the rest are sidekicks, whom I don't consider to be Vestiges. But only one of them isn't a daedric prince's champion, necromancer or vampire so...0 -
LennoxPoodle✭✭✭NoI kind of consider all of my characters a vestige, but so far only one of them really is this saviour of Nirn person. I did the wailing prison with all of them though (note: yes, I never started a new toon from Morrowind onwards). It was a stupid decision to do the chosen one type of story with an MMO anyway. The idea of playing a critical hero, but not THE hero, out of a group of non-defined size works far better in this game. Something like oblivions story with the player essentially being a supportive character to Martin would have worked way better.
But yeah I mainly ignore the main story. So no is the best approximation.0 -

On my 3rd account. Did the main story line and caldwells silver and gold on the first account. CP 450+ on both servers with 4 of my 8 toons on each server and still havent done main story line yet. Too much else going on with events and launches and all those maps from events that i've only just finished on eu and havent hardly started on na and some much such.0
