Quest disguises no longer hide vampirism.

So, basically 'look like a vampire' includes 'look like a normal healthy version of your character'. At least it should.

That would be Stage 1. ;)

    Just remain in stage 1.

    That's pointless.

That part I can get behind. I wish vampirism didn't wash out body markings quite so much. I can understand making them fade a bit, but the problem is they fade so much that all Khajiit and Argonians pretty much look the same at stage four.

I can handle the eyes being red, maybe having fangs (longer ones in the case of beast races)... But that's near the limit for me.

I have a black-furred khajiit with panther "spots". As a stage 4, the fur is faint grey and the spots are barely visible.

I disliked that so much that I resorted to disguises to be able to see those spots again (getting the black fur back was a plus).

The same thing happened with a "white tiger" khajiit warden. But in that case the tiger stripes were still visible enough to not need to squint, but still be a little too pale.

Being a stage 1 vampire doesn't enable any passives, so that's out. It's currently a choice between being a vampire without passives (stage 1), wearing skins if you have any, or curing it.

Also Frost Edge Bandit disguise does nothing by itself, none of the disguises I have (including the imperial ones) work off the shelf.

So been playing with all my quest disguises (have kept them all since beta) and depending on which one you put on and what race your character is you get differing levels of hiding skins (vamp or otherwise).

Further proof that whomever thought this was a good idea, besides being wrong, was also unable to implement it in a cohesive manner. At this point just going to assume that in doing this so poorly some other code has probably been fekked-up in the process xD

Firstly, it's pointless, as was said. Secondly, stage 1 is not 'a normal healthy version of your character' and still should look rather obviously vampiric to all NPCs who have a bare minimum knowledge of vampires. Only completely unaware should be fooled by 'it's just a cold' excuse. But there are dozens or even hundreds of knowledgeable and experienced characters that know a lot about vamps, like most of the Mages and Fighters guilds, some nobles and military, definitely all of the most powerful mages and sorcerers like Fyr and Tharn, adventurers and the Undaunted, some of thieves and assassins. There's a quest in Grahwood where vampire hunters can't see a vamp in front of them at all (and they weren't completely stupid or inexperienced)!

I really like where the people are going with this that are saying "If you choose vampirism for the benefits, it should have drawbacks like appearance". In fact, I think it should be applied to all end game optimization. Here's my proposal:

Using Arena Weapons: your skin turns hot pink and you become weak to direct damage

Using Champion Points: your character goes bald

Gained skill points from skyshards: your head gets replaced with a skyshard

After all, all necessary end game optimization needs to have drawbacks, especially cosmetic ones. If people don't like it, they don't *have* to use arena weapons, or use champion points, or get more points than the game gives you already. That's a personal choice THEY made
