With Elsweyr Target Out of Range bug is worse than ever

I don't know about the rest of the players but since the drop of Elsweyr the Target Out of Range bug has really gotten worse. I have encountered the problem on average of 6 to 10 times a day trying to loot dead NPC's. I can be standing right on top of them or at different angles and distances and still get the Target Out of Range message. Missed out on some boss loot because of it.

What is really annoying is this problem has been reported as far back as 2015 and is still going on. Come on ZOS fix your broken game already.

Oh so that's what's going on. I only started playing and I was baffled why I kept getting this these last few days. Now at least I know what's going on, but yes it's highly annoying and oddly persistent in all parts of the game.

I've seen a lot of enemies die, lag out, and then pop up like 10 feet away from where they died.
Even when they don't do that I get the "Out of Range" notification so I can't loot regardless about 45-50% of the time.
Sometimes it'll eventually work when I weapon swap a whooooole bunch of times, but that rarely fixes it now. Usually it just says out of range until I just give up and just move on.

Missed out on loot from Trial bosses because of this.

I've witnessed the same (PC-EU) as well as enemies actually dropping dead then a split second later the corpse teleports. Just defeated Sahdina the Scorpion in Simply Misplaced and when I killed her we were inside her chamber, yet as she hit the ground her corpse vanished and appeared half way up the slope with the "target out of reach" bug.
So dead people teleport in this game now.

Always had this bug occasionally on PS4, but has gotten worse since patch 1.48.

Can confirm this on PC EU. "Out of range" thing happens every time, especially when I'm farming public dungeons - lots of enemies corpses are "out of reach" (despite the fact that I'm standing right on top of them), teleporting bodies are a thing too - you're killing them, they freeze in place for a second - boom! - corpse materializes a few feet away from it's previous spot.

dead bodies teleport and "unreachable target"...

This has been happening for as long as I have played the game, 2+ years. It used to be a rare occurrence but since the last large content patch (Elsweyr) it has been a common occurrence.

I have noted several facts that go along with it and have a suspicion that it is related to the addition of the "corpse" mechanic for the Necromancer. It used to leave two corpses, one at the point of death and one at the point where the body is deposited. I have not played my Necromancer much lately so I am not sure if this exploit is fixed or not.

It seems to only happen when the mob is killed at range with a ranged attack while it is moving toward you. Things killed next to you almost never glitch. One Goblin died standing in mid stride, glowing yellow with loot, when I approached him to take said loot he teleported about 10 meters to the location that I was standing when I bowed him down. Of course I was not able to loot him.

My solution, when possible, is to kill something else near where the body died, not dropped, and have area loot turned on. You should be able to get it all. I have recovered several blue items this way.

As a retired programmer, this data would be enough for me to track down this bug and fix my code. I hope that it helps.

ZOS is doing what it does best. Ignoring issues with their game. Target Out of Range issues have been reported as far back as 2015. With the Elsweyr chapter release it got worse. They have done nothing to fix it or even responded to any of the bug threads reporting it. Pathetic game support at it's finest.

Yes, even after update 1.49 on PS4, I still experience 'Target Out of Range' errors.
It's getting very annoying to play now, with weapon/spell sound effects occurring way after casting.

But that's another topic.

I did a few vMAs again over the past days. I noticed, in stage 7(poison) sometimes you cant bash the archers when they start casting snipe. You bash but nothing happens

Same issue, it happens a lot now, sometimes within a few minutes after each other. Frustrating to not be able to loot. (PC-EU)

Was checking to see if others saw this. I play on XBox and I don't recall seeing it before the Elsweyr patch. I started playing in early Feb of this year. It seems to be worse on my ranged characters and when the target dies quickly. Had one last night quickly die way in front of me and ended up behind me. Seems to be at its worst when the character is moving towards me when it falls. Started a nightblade this weekend and played a few hours and I don't think it happened once, but I am using dual wield so was in melee range almost all of the time.

Usually, I can move towards where I think they were killed and loot from as far away as possible and I'll get it.

The issue seems to be that the enemies, alive or dead, are showing to be in one place but are actually in another like stated above. I've run into adds you can't bash, jump to, or are just straight up invincible because they aren't where the game shows them to actually be.

Example would be the poisonmenders from vma on the poison stage. They stand on one of 4 pads and don't really move. I've seen them just slightly off the pads to as far as being in the middle of the arena. In ww form my 2 direwolves hunted down and were attacking the invisible enemy where it should be on the pad, and the rendered enemy on screen was just standing there invincible in the wrong spot to my own attacks.

Seems that's the same issue happening with the out of range dead bodies. If you are close enough to line up the loot prompt with where the enemy actually died, you can sometimes get the loot. And this happens regardless of ranged attacks or up close. Happens a lot when im in ww form.
