Build Advice?

Hi,

I'm new to ESO,, only a few days in fact, although I e been playing MMOs for years, (SWG, LOTRO,, EVE, SWTOR, STO etc).

I've never been into PvP, nor have I been bothered about squeezing every last percentage out of build & gear to be uber competitive in raids. I just like taking my time, enjoying the story, occasionally grouping with others but mainly chilling out playing solo (sometimes whilst enjoy a JD and Coke).

I usually create characters based on a predetermined image of what I think would look cool and be fun, I'm not into RP, but I like to imagine a persona for my character and build and play them accordingly.

So upon starting ESO, I had in mind a big hulking Heavy Arrmor wearing Necromancer with a Shield and a big evil looking oversized Mace (sorta like what Sauron weilded at the start of the Lord of the Rings : Fellowship of the Ring).

Ii found this image of a Necromancer one of you guys had posted and it's perfect for what I had in mind:

So I created a Nord Necromancer, made him a vampire and just started questing, however I'm still looking for a build which matches both my image for the character and my solo pve play style.

The only build I've really found that ticks the boxes is this one:

https://alcasthq.com/eso-necromancer-tank-build-pve/

But I'm concerned it may not he suitable for Solo play, it seems more for group play with others providing the DPS.

The communities of the MMOs I've played in the past have always been brilliant with help and advice, so presuming it's the same here I thought I'd ask you guys.

Thanks in advance.

PS also found this build but it's more for PvP and not solo PvE, could that work?

Cheers.

I dont play necro yet so just my two cents.
Honestly you dont need much for overland questing. As you will probably see from some threads here. While i do agree that questing with tanks could be boring cause low damage, nothing is really a threat to u as the glassiest cannon or cant be killed as even the sturdiest tank. I will probably recommend getting some damage related heavy armors (even crafting something like hundings will do) and just enjoy pve questing, skill wise, use the ones you like, since again, overland is a joke. If you ever decide to head out for a dungeon, i would recommend getting ebon(+1k health for all group members), for team support (dont use weapons, ebon weapons are still bugged, or at least was few months ago) and another heavy armor set of your liking(doesn't really matter as long as u survive, and it is much more about skill than build in harder content).

You don’t have to RUN heavy armor just wear a heavy armor motif on your gear.

BUILD to be successful not for looks. The game scales you now. The closer to level 50 you get, the weaker you will seem. Until you get to cp 160, you’ll outgrow your gear.
