Shouldnt Meteor be buffed to be like Dawnbreaker?

I really don’t understand why there is such a big difference between the two? Dawnbreaker is much easier to attain and much more valuable in PvP.
Meteor hasn’t been changed since it was one of the main Ultimates in the game years ago. It’s not 2015 anymore, meteor needs to get with the times.

Why is dawnbreaker:
Instant
125 ult
Burst damage
High DoT across 5 seconds
Hits undead and Daedra even harder
Unpredictable (no warning before)

Meteor:
200 ult
Burst damage but easily avoided due to the warning before and 2 second delay before it hits
Ground based DoT not DoT on the targets hit
No extra damage vs undead and Daedra unless you pick fire morph and it’s against vampires


Why is there such a huge difference between the two skills? The bridge between stamina and magicka in PvP needs to be reduced as it is and meteor being so poor/ineffective against a half decent player doesn’t help.

I don’t want dawnbreaker nerfed at all, I just want meteor to be on the same level as it.

    Agree with you that Meteor need some kind of change, it's outdated.
    My idea is to make it, or one of it's morphs (instead of Shooting star) insta cast but no ground dot. So, it would perform the same as Dawnbreaker, have a bit more punch since it costs more, but Meteor will loose that DoT completely.
    That would be fair imo.

    Difference is, even those skills don’t have a 2 second delay that warns the target to block lol.

    It doesn’t warrant a 200 ultimate cost.

    It would be cool if Ice Comet lost the ground DOT and increased in strength to accommodate that. Maybe lose the stun as well, but give it a 100% chance to inflict chilled on all enemies hit to compensate.

    And then the flame morph loses upfront damage, but the fire DOT increases in strength and attaches to the players rather than the ground. You could even change the ultimate gain from the morph to be like 1 ult per tick of the dot on each player. That way if they purge it, you don't get the remaining ult, and you benefit more from the DOT.

    Agreed. Needs to be about 150 if kept at the same conditions. If improved, 200 would be fair.

    I have started slotting DB on my MagNB and it's noticeably improving my gameplay. It's even better than my class ultimates.

    When dueling my boyfriend, his DB misses me half the time. I don't even know why most of the time because it should have landed on me.

    The only thing I can think of if the lag between us. I noticed that on my screen when on our mounts running, I could be 10ft in front of him but on his screen, I am 10ft behind him. When I visit him in Canada (I am in the US) and we are on the same connection, our TVs side by side, it is still like that. I just don't know if my PS being an American and his a Canadian would play a role or what. It's not the internet connection, that's for sure. So my theory is that if my movement is behind on his screen than it is on mine, when he DB me, I could have already moved on my screen and it missed while on his screen, I am still standing there and don't take damage.

      Meteor was great in the old days.
      Today I cannot even remember the last time I died of it.
      The 2 sec delay makes it too easily avoidable.

      Indeed Dawnbreaker in PvP is cheaper, quicker and deadlier.
      Considering the pain it takes to find all lore books for Meteor,
      IMHO at least the 2 sec delay should be reduced to 1 sec.

      As for PvP, try hitting the mage on top of that tower raining death down on your battering ram team with your dawnbreaker. Or try hitting that battering ram team from the top of your tower with a dawnbreaker.

      I like the fact that the close-up-and-personal ulti packs more punch, but has less utility in some situations,w hile the other has its own advantages... leaving you with the choice what to slot.

      So that argument alone... won't wash.

      An argumewnt for less warning... hmmm... maybe? Though you would have to compare it with other area-targeted ultis like elemental storm... and that has a buildup time as well...

      I've called for Meteor buffs and a magicka Dawnbreaker morph several times in the past, but will fully admit that's a terrible idea in the current state of the game. There's only one class this will benefit, and by process of elimination:

      Magplars use Crescent
      Magblades use Soul Harvest
      Magdens use Perma
      MagDKs use Leap
      Magcros use Colossus (I think?)

      Which really leaves just Magsorc.

      Magsorcs are already completely rampant in PvP right now, and can deliver bursts that rival ulti combos of other classes, consistently, with regular abilities. I shudder to think what the state of PvP would be like if the class could layer a buffed meteor over all that.

      Coming from a Magsorc main, btw.

      I used to be in the 'buff meteor/give us magicka DB' camp but I don't think it's really needed anymore. Mag is no longer underperforming in comparison to stam in PvP and pigeonholing all mag classes to use the same ult would further weaken build diversity.

      Also, Meteor is still very powerful on classes that have access to undodgeable/unblockable CC (NB, DK).

      I main a magicka nightblade and I kinda disagree. The idea is that most of the op class ultimates are magicka morphs (Excluding incap and leap). Most players don't use their class ultimate on their stam characters cos it's considerably weak and useless. Dawnbreaker is a good ultimate and is available to all classes.

      If you really wanna use a good yet common magicka ultimate then you should drop meteor for soul assault.

      But if we could ask for a change then I'd suggest removing the stun from meteor(since every competent player or noob blocks it) and reducing the cost. Or you could remove the stun, keep the cost at 200 but make it an Insta cast without any delay.

      Still won't use it over soul harvest tho. The defile is priceless ^-^

      in pvp if you land a stun on the target after you cast it its almost guaranteed to hit.

      but in pve the ult refund upon hitting brings it in line with dawnbreaker. ive seen it refund up to 90 ult and it deals almost as much damage to a stationary target as a destro ult for significantly cheaper (again, due to the refunded ult)

      Meteor kinda counters medium armor dodgerole spammer. They have to stop dodgespam and block and eat everything u shot at them or they take the meteor which is mostly worse. Also you can fire it at range which is really nice for quick safe burst while kiting for example. I mainly play no cp tho idk how it is performing in cp.

      I thought it was well understood that all magicka builds are broken OP and can never be nerfed too much. You seriously want to buff mag even more in PvP!? Are you serious?

      Now excuse me while I go and log my stam NB with SnB and absorb magicka + cloak. Those broken mag builds gonna get what's coming !
