Bow is required to be a good stam dps for a few reasons:
1. Combat in ESO is basically a. lay down area of effect damage (i.e. AoEs) like volley/endless hail; b) apply some damage over time abilities (i.e. DoTs) like poison arrow; then c) use a "spammable" until these AoEs r and DoTs need to be reapplied.
2. Bow has hands down the most powerful AoE for stam damage, as well as some really good DoTs and passive abilities that juice dps. You'll usually swap to the other bar for your spammable (though bow/bow builds exist too).
3. Trials and dungeons routinely punish melee range players, so if you're a stam dps, you'll want SOMETHING to use when you're at a distance. Using only DW and 2H gives you zero options for ranged play. (despite the recent patch, DW is still the better option for backbar; 2H really ony shines in PvP.
There are likely more, but this starts to answer the question of why bow is required for competitive / competent dps in ESO.

New carve is certainly better than rending slashes now at least before enemy is at low health, not sure about after . I still think it’s the dual wield passives that outshine 2h. Could you elaborate on why you think 2h is more viable than dual wield in PvE? I’m just wondering.
