It takes like 10 hours to farm all the lore books, probably double that on console.
And you need to do it on every magicka character.
It's an absurd grind. Doing the same 10 hour fetch quest over and over again is maddening. Games are supposed to be fun.

I was 7 hours on my necro for psijic, mages guild and skyshards in each of the zones where psijic took me.
It wasn’t the most fun I’ve ever had in game but to circumvent any grind with a pay to pass option is wrong and bad for long term for the game.
This sort of thing encourages more revenue based decisions for things which are unnecessary and take a fraction of your overall playtime in the grand scheme of things as well as being one and done per character. 7 hours for each character is hardly an absurd time considering people have 100+ hours on multiple alts.
The more content taken out the game by purchasing things the quicker the value is removed and the worse the game does in the long term. This smacks of getting a quick buck.
Yes it’s optional but it’s also an MMO and should be grindy and this one is already very non grindy compared to others.

The worst thing about this is that it actually incentivises bad game design.
It becomes more profitable to create a questline so *** tedious and unenjoyable that players will actually pay to avoid it.
It becomes less profitable to create content that is genuinely engaging and which players want to play.
It’s the very definition of insanity.

This isn’t one of them though, this is just taking money to skip the grind. Just make the skillines account bound if they want to make them less grindy.
Those players who would rather play AAA games for 10 hours are still going to be annoyed at the MMO when they need to run pledges for keys, level undaunted, get caltrops, get VMA weapons, get AY weapons, get new gear every patch or so and stones to change the traits. The grind is persistent and no one enjoys running HRC 100+ for daggers so even if the content is better than mages guild initially the grind will kill them.
Creating options and monetising the ability to skip content to cater to those with low attention spans isn’t a long term business model for a MMO and will totally split their player base.
The money isn’t infinite from those willing to spend and they ultimately go elsewhere and those against it get switched off and leave the game.
The only thing this does is allow zos to generate as much money within that window where they milk both groups of players.

Someone is forcing you to make all that magicka alts ? Call 911!
Soulution is simple - no alts- no grind.
