Maintenance for the week of December 23:

Recommended: "Hard Disk Space: 85GB free HDD space" is misleading.

It's absolutely ridiculous that you state that the game only needs 85GB of space.

It takes nearly, if not, double that to get the game installed.

So I'm supposed to run out and buy a 200GB drive just to install this game?

I feel pretty *** on that I have a game that I bought, but cannot play because of your lousy half-assed launcher development.

Why not get with the times and update your launcher to something that actually makes sense.

If I install a game like World of Warcraft for example, it takes 54GB not 80, not 90, not 108. It takes 54GB, period.

I apologize for the adult words, but this kind of lazy development and lack of consideration really triggers me.

Its 2019 and you complain about 200GB?
Your post would make some sense in 2003 lol. Just get better potato or go back to wow.

I can't believe this damn game won't run on my SFD-1001.

(and yes, I realize 99.99% of you will have no idea what that is) ;)

It takes up to 85GB if you have all the DLCs. 54 GB is the base game. The actual install for all DLC's and Chapters is just under 79GB, the rest of the recommended space is for patches to have some space to do what they need to do.

My desktop PC Zenimax Online directory is 156GB which includes 78.3GB of game and another 78.3GB of optional PTS version. So better have ~200GB space if one wants to participate in PTS.

And yes, 200GB can be a problem. I have currently 105GB free of my 476GB local SSD and I think many people use SSD of half that size as their only storage. (I myself have plenty TB of HD for data but games & applications go to SSD.)

Was same problem for me, main thing is that first it's downloading 85 gb, then begin installing 85 gb and only delete downloded 85 after game fully installed, so basically for installation you need around 160 free space.

Was just about to say the same.
I can see that it can be irritating after blizzards launcher, that lets you play the game while it downloads the data.

Ever noticed that your car burns more fuel than advertised ?

I always assume that the available free space on a hdd/ssd is less than advertised/shown, and that the space requirements for any given software is higher (like, double... ) than advertised/shown.

This strategy seems to work well. At least for me.

That has to do with how drives are Marketed and how PCs address them. It's basically the difference between Decimal and Binary.
