That's totally canon though, lots of weird martial techniques are floating around Nirn. If anything ESO is closer to the lore in terms of the janky hooha heroes are able to pull off if they hold their blade Just So.

Well, then if we are talking about canon, you can use magicka to run faster, jump higher, swing a weapon quicker, etc.. why not use magicka to dodge?
The truth is the thematic difference between magicka and stamina in this game is terrible, because the whole system was half-baked (at best) during launch and stamina combat was ad hoc after the fact due to popular demand for a true "warrior" archetype that was missing from all the magicka based classes.
