Does anyone have tips on what the sweet spots are for these settings (min. loss in quality max. gain in performance)?

You should try votans adaptive video settings, will lower automatically video settings like that when your fps drops.

I dont like having my stti gs getting changed all the time all over the place...just try getting some values where others have good results...

Try it. You don't even notice the changes as they happen.

The problem is that for certain areas (like earlier zones) you can crank your settings all the way to max and still maintain great FPS, but in newer DLC areas the graphics are more intensive.

Also, it depends on your card/system, so without that information, no one can give you any concrete advice to begin with.

Also, this game is more CPU than GPU. So, graphics are a smaller factor in performance. Although view distance has some impact, cuz if you can see it, there is probably a script running on that object.

Also, while 60 FPS is a laudable goal in most games, it's almost impossible to get that everywhere in this game, nor is it needed.

Back to the CPU, try to limit background apps, in particular those that stream, and that will boost performance.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Yes you can. It's very dynamic, you can choose what system sliders the addon will touch, at what FPS they will start to change them, and how aggressive the overall algorithm is.

It's been a while since I looked at the settings, but I also believe you can set a minimum for how low you want a particular setting to go, regardless of how bad your FPS get.

Well unless you are in Cyrodiil you don’t need much view distance, i put mine on 50 and that helped a lot to keep a steady 60fps on the overland.
