3/3 hireling skill: is it broken?

So I have 8 characters. One of each class plus a couple mules. All of them have at least level 32 in the main professions to get the 3/3 hireling skill. The only benefit the 3/3 skill gives over 2/3 is that the hireling mail resets in 12 hours instead of 24. That doesn't mean I get 2 per day unless I can reasonably log in every 12 hours but since that's not feasible it's still beneficial for the fact that it ensures the mail is reset by the next time I log in even if it's only 22 hours since the last time or 20 hours.

So with that established I have noticed lately that my hireling mail is not coming in like it should even though it's been more than 12 hours. It's acting more like I only have 2/3 skill instead of 3/3 which means I don't get all my mail until 24 hours have elapsed. Is anyone else experiencing this?

I should also point out that it's not necessarily happening on all my characters or even all the time. It seems random. For instance tonight the first two characters I logged in (I always log my characters on in the same order) were missing some of my hireling bags but since they were the first..they should have reset first. The rest of my characters all seemed normal even though they should have reset later than the first two so it doesn't really make sense. It has actually caused me to keep continually checking my skills because I keep thinking they got reset or something..however that is not the case.

Hireling mail doesn't always come in immediately when you login. Sometimes you need to change zones.

Or even get all delivered in one go...

better to preview an un-owned house a minute or so after login (or expecting mail) then return after the fat lazy hamster has got its act together

same, I daily log atleast once on every character for those maile whiel ahveing at every character 3/3 for hirelings and I have noticed it not so long ago as I dont get mail from every hireling I should very often when for example in 1st day I will log into game at 2PM and next day at 10AM while not logging on those chars 2nd time before 2nd day

I have not noticed any issues, and I reliably log in every day on all 30 of my characters to do my writs and I get a hireling mail from all of them, every single day, I'm 3/3 on all of them and it's usually anywhere from 16-30 hours between logins

Sometimes, they are not there immediately... sometimes they come in after I've been on the character for a minute... sometimes not until I log out and back in on the next character, then I get 6 or 7 on that one.

No issues on all 15 toons who have 3/3...if you are missing a hireling mail when you log on...if you log on to your next toon it should be in your mailbox...

What should be and what actually is, are two different things. I have quite often been missing a mail (usually provisioning) and when I log onto the next character and the next character and the next character, it isn't there. I have two particular characters that sometimes don't get their mails at all. I will check at the proper time and nada and I will check again a few hours later and still nada. I have other characters that always get all their mails. For me, it is very screwy.

3/3 doesn't help you get gold mats. Read the text of 2/3 and then the text of 3/3. 2/3 gives you more/better mats but 3/3 only allows you to collect mail every 12 hours instead of every 24 hours. I only get 3/3 for the sole purpose of having all my mail ready whenever I log in next even if it hasn't been exactly 24 hours. Otherwise, the timer will creep upwards later and later each day.

I'm aware of that but that isn't what I'm seeing. I'm seeing like 1 or 2 mail arrive but 1 or 2 will be missing. I know sometimes it takes a minute for them to show up but I am seeing some of them..just not all of them (consistently).

What is this "only" of which you speak? 3/3 gives more mats per mail than 2/3, or at least did last time I checked. If nothing else, for characters below the top tier of skill in a hard craft line, it gave 5 raw mats per mail rather than 4.

What is this "only" of which you speak? 3/3 gives more mats per mail than 2/3, or at least did last time I checked. If nothing else, for characters below the top tier of skill in a hard craft line, it gave 5 raw mats per mail rather than 4.

The only text that is different from 2/3 and 3/3 on the hirelings is the bit about 12 hours instead of 24. I haven't tested this extensively but there was a lot of discussion about this back near release and the consensus at the time was that the 3rd tier of hireling does *not* give additional mats..unless you are referring to the fact that you can technically collect the hireling mail twice per day if you are able to log in every twelve hours.

Of course it is possible that something has changed but if that is the case the text hasn't changed to reflect it.

Back to the OP...I didn't log in for a day so all my hireling mail should have been completely caught up. Logged into one of my characters and I was missing my BS mail. Worked on my writs and right before I was logging off I got the BS hireling mail. Not sure why that one was delayed but the missing mails might be due to some bug that is randomly delaying some of the mails for whatever reason (as opposed to them just never coming). Not sure why that would be happening, though.

This issue is still happening for me. I have been on a break for a few months and the last couple days on some of my mules I'm not getting all my hireling mail. I just checked again today (it's been way beyond 12 hours..more like 24 hours) and I am missing my BS hireling mail on at least one character..

Are you sure you're not getting the mail? I encounter something similar on a daily basis. I log in, only two or three mails out of five. But if I carry on with my crafting writs, the missing mails usually arrive before I'm done. Sometimes I have to port somewhere to force it, though (I rarely do that, tbh, waste of time

).

The mail system is acting weird alright. From time to time, when I log into a new toon, my mailbox is empty, even though it should have like 10 mail in it cause I have my pack mule pick up all the hireling mail and I check in my last toon that the hireling mail was there. It can takes up to minutes in order for the mail to synch up. Sometime the mail doesn't get synch even after I finish daily crafting with the toon.
So I log in with my next toon and the mail are back. Can't recall whether the hireling mail from the last toon, the one with mail synching issue, are included or not

Pretty sure but with 9 characters I log on daily to collect mail from it's hard to keep track. The last post I made I think I was missing the BS mail. Then yesterday all the mail was there. So on the two characters I mentioned above it was actually both clothing and enchanter mails. In one case I waited a while and then did get the mails. In the other case I logged back into that character again and there was still nothing. Waited a while and get the enchanting mail but no clothing mail.

So it does seem that it might be coming in eventually but in a weird, staggered way. This is not working as advertised for the skill line. The whole reason I am sinking that third point into the hireling skill on all my hirelings is so that all my mail is available again in 12 hours..so that when I log in daily (roughly every 24 hours) I don't have to deal with staggered mails coming in or have my hireling mail time inch forward in time every day.

I'd really love to see some of these changes to the Hireling system:
- No login required - dump the delivery automatically into the Crafting Bag (whether you have ESO+ or not) and unlock the mail in the Collections section where you collect all the texts you've ever read.
- If we have to log in at all, change to the timer so that it's every 20 hours. For tier 3, just give more mats instead of logging in twice a day. In this way the timer won't constantly inch forward because of mail delivery delay or getting disconnected while you are trying to log in and get your mail. Also, it allows you to move forward or back the time you log in daily to get the mats, helping you set up a routine so you remember.

- For an even better change: Once a week get 1, 2, or 3 Surveys. No daily material delivery, which is highly implausible anyway. These hirelings are roaming far and wide and they still manage to deliver a stack of mats every day? Twice a day even? In between their various misadventures? Yes there are no Provisioning surveys at present but maybe it's time to do something like that -- a voucher that lets you go to a local Provisioning vendor location and pick up a box of supplies.
