Special Shout Out to a Great Group of Friends

Hello forum fam,

I'm not the one to share personal information to the masses but recently I've been in awe with a special group of friends I've had to pleasure of playing with & knowing for years on ESO.

For a little over 2 years my eldest son has been battling a rare form of brain cancer. Our family is strong and we've endured together through the good and the bad. He's been in remission for close to 1 year. Recently we've had another scare with his check-up MRI scans. He will need another surgery, but we know in our heart everything will be ok!

My guildies who've been good friends to me have been such a great support. I never could imagine when I first started playing ESO that it could be even more than a game. TESO has been such a great escape for me at the end of the day, almost certifiably therapeutic. I've recently taken a little break but plan to be back once things settle down.

I, like most of us have many friends and family we lean upon during tough times, but I feel even more blessed to have such a caring group of gamer buddies who check in on me and my family regularly since I've told them the new news.

I would like to send lots of love and respect to GM's @BigL & @jc @POKE_ from Eyes of The Queen, PS4 NA. You and so many others have been wonderful and I look forward to many more years of gaming together!

Can't imagine what you, as a Father, have gone through these past couple of years - that the people with whom you share this game have been able to provide some solace to you during such a difficult time is wonderful. I wish your son a complete recovery and a happy, healthy life hereafter; all my best to him, you and your family <3

It's often that people think ESO has a horrible and toxic community (that's especially the sentiment on the forum).

However I do have to say ESO has a wonderful and caring community and it's always great hearing the stories about players helping each other out and the strong friendships which come from the game.

Wish all the best for your family.

    PS4 NA player here.

My IRL Family has also been dealing with Cancer this year. Someone I am close to has been dealing with skin Cancer for many years now. I too also use ESO as an escape, I play PvP to help unload the anger I have over not being able to help cure others of their Cancer.

Keep your chin up. Stay positive. Stay strong Brother! We can defeat this nemesis! <3

My 16 yo daughter is a 2 time survivor...the first time we found she had it...she was 8...then she she had a recurrence about 1.5 years ago...the first time I would spend all night after everyone had gone to sleep...by myself...just worrying about my little girl...when it happened the second time...I was deep in the throes of my ESO addiction...after a time away from ESO...I realized that I didn't have to be alone late at night when irl was asleep...the ESO community on XBNA was wonderful during this trying time...and I will forever be grateful to this game and its community...

    EDIT: BTW...Cancer Sucks!

Wow. I gotta say. Usually “shoutouts” make me roll my eyes and wonder if the poster should just deal with their feelings in a less public place- like personally thanking individuals. But this actually was good to read. It points to the idea that behind characters in a fantasy game there are real people with various backgrounds all playing this game together. It reminds us to be kind to one another and just be decent human beings- we never know what the other person is going through. Best of luck with your son, stay strong TC.
