Reporting foreign names and seeing no action

Hey,

I run a Finnish guild and have reported many names that are against the TOS but have seen no difference over the years. Is there some other way to report foreign names?
The names are mostly vulgar or curse words that I know for a fact would have to be changed if they were in english.

I have reported them and translated the exact meaning. Several other people have reported them as well and they still run around with those names.

There is no consistency in the enforcement of rules.

Insulting names can run around all over Cyro, as long as they include no dirty english words. Discussing it is so meaningless.

I was struggling how to name my valkyrie character, and ended up on Finnish word "Tunturipollo", though some "o" letters I took from German since correct letters were already taken. Is it correct name to use?

You do realize that this is an M rated game.
However there are rules against using offensive words in names.

Just because something has an M rating doesn't mean the creator wants people to use offensive wording within the game.
Mostly because a company wants their game to feel welcoming, safe and inclusive for all and what might be funny to one person could be grossly offensive to another.

In another game I was reported for a name until I proved where I took it. I like to use words from other languages like Gaelic, German and so forth. Apparently what I found is it could mean something totally different in another language I don't research.

There's actually a lot of English words that have bad/weird meanings in other languages as well. But they're completely normal to us. You can change the spelling and only people who sounded it out would know.

For instance: Cookie Monster actually sounds like Koki Monster (in Hungarian) which means Small [snip] Monster. Same with puff, face, and pick in three other languages. Of those three words- one sounds like a brothel and the other two are ***.
Want to enjoy the game more? Try both PvP (crybabies) and PvE (carebears). You'll get a better perspective on everyone's opinion.

This is why I Google any names I use. I remember seeing something by one of Paizo's former staff about how he would Google every name he used in their published material to check it wasn't offensive in another language.

Obviously a lot of effort to do with each name, but always worth double checking.

There will always be idiots in games that use stupid names, all you can do is report them, just like with reporting bots it takes a long time for anything to be done.

Does not mean you should give up, keep annoying customer support and eventually they will do something, once they know your not going to stop reporting, they will do something just to shut you up in most cases ;)

Umm, I've reported different people multiple times over 5 years and none of them have had to change their name :D

Because having a silly name because people are being edgy or just young makes them bad people?

There's obviously some names that cross the line. But an adult should also be able to just ignore some of those silly names.

I don't have any offensive names myself and I don't see s lot of them. But if someone is called noobslayer, milfhunter or suck-deez-***... can't you look the other way?
I don't see why people are so upset about "offensive names". It's clear that ZOS don't really care either. xD

Yeah yeah it's against the TOS so you don't care what I say, but I think it's understandable why it isn't a priority for zeni.

Then apparently Zos does not find those names offensive so why continue to harass people over names that YOU do not approve of? Abusing the report feature should also be a bannable offense.

As an example there is an account that refers to excrement and *** with vulgar terms. I can't even say their name out loud in voice because it is so disgusting.

I don't care about funny/cheek in the tongue names, I'm talking about actual vulgar names that are against the tos.

Still...this is a game that shows/discusses torture, murder, and r.ape (not sure, but was part of other TES games). There's an entire zone devoted to killing other people.

And you're upset by scatological humour?

I mean yeah it's nit graphic but neither is a character name, not like you have to look at it.

It's just really amusing how people set their priorities.

Edit: I mean I get it's disgusting and I wouldn't like it if I ran into those names all the time. But to start a thread about it...

There's the problem! That word "****" is the exact same as "excrement", no better or no worse. Society has programed you to believe it's a "bad" word, so you take offense to it. Both words mean the same thing.
