Nightblades on pc how are the changes for our class?

This forum post is for those of us who still have 2 weeks left before we can play elsweyr. Let us know how the new changes/nerfs to nightblade have affected you. I’m curious to know your input on how the class performs now

Hush, this is a secret....

But, from what I am seeing, my medium stamblade is stronger now. The new Dark Cloak rocks, you can basically keep it up 100% of the time ticking on average at 80% of Vigor ticks and with the new mitigation, my DW/Bow is actually able to survive in PvP against fairly good opposition. My medium armor stamblade builds feels tankier than my heavy stamden.

Also use Power Extraction, it is stronger than previous Steel Tornado and Surprise Attack combined.

Shadow Image hits 90% as hard as Poison Injection but is twice long. The other Morph hits almost twice as hard as Poison Injection till execute ranges.

I tearfully uninstalled my Grim Focus add on for the bow procs. I am still testing out what i should replace Relentless focus.

Grim Focus is now convoluted to the extreme, but still worth using in PvE, if Combat Metrics is to be believed. The removal of Minor Beserk is not the end of the world, but it's bound to affect unorganised groups (and, I imagine, solo play in PvP) more than it does organised ones, and that's particularly unfortunate.

Focus is still one of your hardest hitting abilities for PVE. Definitely not one to drop and now there's no need to keep it up in execute. Not sure of it's pvp status though. I think i'd be tempted to use it and never activate the proc.

If you have group buffs, changes to Relentless Focus, Caltrops, and Dark Shade add several hundred DPS each. Dark Shade is about 1.5-2k DPS, but you might likely drop a spammable to include it in the rotation, so it's more like an 800 DPS increase.

Overall I like it, it's been better DPS than before.

Nightblade is still in a good place, whether stamina or magicka. The forums are always doom and gloom and represent a small percentage of the player base. If someone is going to QQ over nerfs and not adapt then that is their own fault.

Well the most vocal NBs on the forums are screaming NERF SORC so hard that I am starting to think thye don,t want poeple to realise the leaderboards are flooded with stamblade.

Personally I'm struggling. But I was also not great at DD on other classes.

Me, I'm not complaining about the nerfs, and they are nerfs.

I just think it's time for me to switch roles altogether.

Life could be worse.

Well if my stamblade unplayable then there’s nothing left for me in eso either way these nerfs suck so I’m cancelling my eso plus when Elsweyr comes to console I’m not supporting something I won’t enjoy.

Please show me that you can do that 90k dps parse, because if you cant, your just spewing nonsense.
I believe I am better than you using a stamblade, if you can post your 90k dps parse on a raid dummy, then I will stop complaining about nb nerf.

It’s fine. Losing minor Berserk stinks but whatever. Having a free cast of piercing armor/reapers mark some what makes up for no more major fracture on surprise attack and honestly when positioned right it’s greater DPS. Spectral bow still hits hard and you get a little heal from it. Dark cloak heal was nerfed and the heal from it is near useless, but the damage reduction combined with the damage reduction from relentless focus could make for a powerful combo totaling a 23% (I think that’s the number) damage reduction. Mass hysteria lost maim but fears 6 people now which is great, honestly a good trade off. Shades and image do more damage.

I was worried during PTS for awhile but they evened things out for actual release.

I give it a thumbs up.

I responded to the other guy saying he will bench his stamblade "cuz it sucks now"...and if u used some brainpower you would deduce from my post that. IF ppl pull 90K DPS the class is still GREAT.

How is the gap closer performing? Ambush now does minor vulnerability for 8 seconds and is more easily spammable with the removal of minimal distance

Teleport strike never had a minimum travel distance.
Nothing changed in terms of speed.

If you actually think magsorc is in a better place than stamblade in raids you're pretty out of touch with endgame PvE. Stamblade in PvE is ridiculously strong and will remain so. Magsorc is excellent for mag but mag is currently inferior to stam in most content.

Minor Berserk gone from Grim Focus? Use Slimecraw 2piece. Slimecraw replaces previous dps 2set like Skoria? Replace Grim Focus with one of the Summon Shade morphs, the skill now supposedly does good damage and not just once, could be some good dps potential there.
At least in theory, gonna test that out on my mag NB when the rollbacks will be fixed, can't play with them right now.

I too am struggling, I'm noticing a pretty hefty decrease in DPS on a self-buffed dummy parse on my stamblade. I realize that the game is more than a DPS parse but when I use the same setup pre- and post-Elsweyr, the difference hurts.

What the poster above me said about Slimecraw got me thinking though-- perhaps these changes will let people explore alternatives to the meta setups that were much stronger than most everything else pre-Elsweyr, both in terms of gear and rotation. For once there may be other options besides Focus, AY, etc.

At a purely emotional level though... It still hurts for no particularly logical reason.

Aye. There is an emotional factor, and despite my psychosis, that affects me too.

But we're all mature adults here. Crying about it isn't going to bring back the old setup.

Now we're all going to find different solutions in our attempts to adapt: Such is only natural, as we are human.

Personally, for me, I think it's time to start taking damage, not dish it out. Means starting over again, but eh'. Games are inherently a waste of time so that doesn't really matter in my book.

I have both a MagBlade and StamBlade. They are doing just fine. I can still kill stuff just as fast and really don't see much of a difference except I think my StamBlade is stronger now though it's subtle.

I am having VERY strong results from the changes in pvp from a healer perspective.
