Noon question... What do do at 50?

I know the general answers on YouTube like: trials, etc.... I'm not asking what all I can do... I'm gonna ask more specific questions I have no clue about:

1. I see ppl talk about Master weapons and different types of weapons... Tell me more about the different types of high end weapons and gear u can get, and how do I get them?

2. What are trials and how do I find them? They're not in my activity FINDER... and how do I group up for them?

3. I heard not to farm for gear until I hit CP 160...is this still true? And what do I do until then? Play dungeons to gain XP?

4. I heard there is a solo challenge mode... I can't remember what it's called (maybe it's solo trials?) what is it and how do I get there? What are my rewards for completing it?

    2. What are trials and how do I find them? They're not in my activity FINDER... and how do I group up for them?

Trials are special 12-man dungeons. You cannot GF them, someone leads the group and invites you. Go to Craglorn and look in chat. But be CP160 first.
    3. I heard not to farm for gear until I hit CP 160...is this still true? And what do I do until then? Play dungeons to gain XP?

CP 160, yes. Do whatever you want. Random normal and random battleground (unless you finish last) give daily big xp boost.
    4. I heard there is a solo challenge mode... I can't remember what it's called (maybe it's solo trials?) what is it and how do I get there? What are my rewards for completing it?

Maelstrom arena. You can jump in via wayshrine (you might have to go there manually 1st time but I dont think so), it is in Wrothgar.

To be honest you sound like you should just take your time and enjoy the game. Endgame will come for you <3

What you do at level 50 is the same as what you do at level 1: try to have fun. A game is supposed to be fun, after all. A way to relax after work and chill with friends.

Master weapons and such - don't worry about them. Until you have mastered basic concepts like how to get the best use out of your skills, and rotation, they won't do much for you. You will do better with two full sets of normal armour and two complementary pieces to fill up all your armour and weapon slots. If you are not yet CP160, I highly recommend crafted sets. They give you a lot of scope to try things out and help you punch above your weight.

Maximum armour level is still CP160. So it's not really worth collecting any drops lower than that, because you will just have to collect them again later. And you outgrow them really fast too. Crafted sets ftw!

Find a group you enjoy playing with. Make some friends. Join a good guild that organises events and includes beginners. They will also organise trials, which are 12-man dungeons. Some guilds have rules about what CP you have to be to join a trial, others don't. If they are a proper learning guild, it shouldn't matter what level you are, as long as the whole group of 12 isn't level 22. But seriously, you don't have to be CP160 to join a trial. You just need to join a decent and helpful group.

You can do dungeons if you find them fun, in order to level. But there are so many quests everywhere! There are dolmens! There are world bosses - can you solo one yet? Have you tried? Have you had a go at PvP? It's not about fighting people one on one, it's about joining a group, capturing and defending keeps and resources. Yes, there are other aspects, but just that simple start and approach can give you hours of fun too.

Take a look at your achievements. Can you fill them out? Get more titles? Unlock more colours for your outfits and armour?

There is a solo challenge in Wrothgar, called Maelstrom Arena. It's on the eastern side, around the middle of the map. You have to go there manually the first time you go. I levelled my new necromancer from level 4 to level 18 in one run through there, yes, starting with just two skills. You will go faster and better with a full skill bar, and if you have trouble, watch the videos on how to do veteran (vMA) to get an idea of what mechanics come into play. But it is a fun and interesting place to level on normal mode. Veteran is a challenge, a personal test, like soloing world bosses, just harder.

The game doesn't end at level 50. Actually, it's mostly just getting started.

You get to CP160. Seriously. No point concerning yourself with endgame yet, as the gear you collect / can use before CP160 is completely worthless in the long run.

I play on PC EU, but levelled a character on PC NA recently. As a 3+ year player, I had no interest in questing anymore. The biggest issue I had, in the beginning, was finding a decent trading guild. I missed that so much. Once I had the trading guild and got to CP160, I sold some motif pages from the recent event and was able to buy 2 armor sets with a golded out weapon in guild stores. In my case that was Julianos + Mother's Sorrow (cheap blue jewelry). That was pretty essential.

Getting a good monster set - and getting Undaunted fully levelled - should probably be one of your next priorities. That also gets you into dungeons, which should be fun (I by and large hate them, but I'm a PvPer).

Getting all the crafting levelled and gear researched was one of my other priorites to reach self-sufficiency. The knock on effect:

You probably don't have enough skill points, which means doing the group events in the public dungeons and collecting skyshards.

Master weapons come from veteran Dragonstar Arena. The short of it is: You won't be able to get them unless at least CP400 and, even then, you probably have to find a good group to carry you. I was once laughed at for having less than 28K DPS, when I wanted to join a vDSA group. That was elitist BS, to be honest, but there was some truth to it all the same.

Asylum weapons are quite easy to get. It's an easy 12-man trial that you could probably participate in at CP160, on normal mode.

Blackrose weapons - haven't really done those myself. A 4-man arena, like Dragonstar. Will give you weapons on normal mode, as far as I know, but probably still quite hard for a new CP160 character.

vMA weapons. This is the solo arena (Maelstrom Arena), in Wrothgar. You only get weapons from vet mode. Probably not worth attempting until at least CP400. Be prepared for a long day, if you have a very high aptitude, or 3 years, if you're me, for your first completion. Yeah. This really runs the gamut. There are many players who never complete it. You get the Stormproof and Flawless Conqueror titles from it, two of the few titles in the game, if not the only ones, that actually say something about your skill as a player.

Of all the vMA weapons, I find the resto staff something that easily integrates into many builds. The bow is also very good.

Normal mode trials can be quite easy. Go to Belkarth and listen in zone chat for players assembling groups for such trials. Or join a guild. Get to CP160 first, though, and get decent gear.

P.S.: Definition of "decent" trading guild: A guild with close to 500 members, maintaining a trader in one of the towns, but with low weekly sales requirements and having a guild hall with a transmute station, all crafting stations, all mundus stones and a banker.

As other says cp160 is target, I would simply continue as before but with an target like getting all the dungeons in normal,
You might want to do easy vet pledges like CoA1 and vFungal1 then work you way up from there but no reason to do much vet dungeons before 160, normal pledges on the other hand is nice.

Guilds, not only trading but some nice social ones is more important in my view.

As other say crafting is nice but only one thing is critical, tempering as in improving so you want this up to max also trait changing, research useful traits but its very nice to have an fully set up crafter, as you main caracter will do most of the quests and exploring you will end up with lots of skill points anyway so nice to use him as an crafter.

Else continue as before, most important have fun.

True, but I think this is a case where one guild can provide it all. I'm not talking about a prime trading guild. Those really focus on sales and have targets you can't consistently meet as a new player. I would still aim for at least one guild that has a trader in a town. Not a prime one, but something like Shimmerene or Daggerfall. Those guilds are often social guilds, but they're big enough to maintain a trader in those locations. On PC EU I am in Redfur Trading, which has no weekly requirements, on PC NA it's Glory, Guts and Gold. I am sure there are many guilds like these.

Tamriel Trade Center is all well and good, but a large guild with active trading will provide useful statistics for Master Merchant or Arkadius Trade Tools. It depends on who you are, of course. I am a PvPer, so I tend to be utilitarian about my PvE guilds. I think trading is important. It allows you to make gold from the parts of the game you like playing and buy stuff you don't care to farm yourself.

There's still all those CP levels once you get to level 50. Though gear stops leveling after CP 160 and CP levels are shared among all your characters on that server at least.

    3. I heard not to farm for gear until I hit CP 160...is this still true? And what do I do until then? Play dungeons to gain XP?

This is honestly (and unfortunately) really good advice--

If I were a fresh CP account, I would grind/quest to 160 ASAP. That makes gearing up semi-permanent, as you don't outlevel your gear anymore.

If you can, spec as a tank (don't need to be ENDGAME TANK just tanky with a taunt) and run a normal random every day for the big XP reward, then grind, quest, or work on other skill lines until you get to 160. You can start working through your undaunted levels, for instance, by doing normal pledges--again, easier if you can spec as a tank. Get your mages guild leveled up by hunting lorebooks, get enough skyshards to give you all the skill points you'll ever need, get psijic leveling done if need be, etc. etc. Use the free XP scrolls from login rewards to keep earning CP at a good pace until you hit 160.

At 160, you can put together a kind of endgamey setup (probably not full-on endgame as you might have a hard time getting some trials drops, gold jewelry, master weapons, etc) and then you'll be able to do pretty much everything in-game, adjusting your build as you progress!

    Hey barbarian,

    Gratz on getting to 50

Main thing you can do is keep playing the game you enjoy and have fun.

    1. Re high end gear, there isn’t a lot of point in going after this until you’re CP160+ as that’s the gear cap. You can get master weapons from trials and arenas.

    2. The best way into these is by finding a guild which will help you learn the mechanics of these. If you’re happier doing things on your own, hang out in Craglorn and you will see many people asking for people in chat, but again they will usually look to get CP160+ players as gear will be tradable.

    3. There is a ‘race to 160’ for players who have got to L50. Try using XP scrolls, doing daily dungeons, BGs, quests, dolmens etc. You only ever have to do it once as any new L50s, once you have done it any future L50 characters will inherit the CP of your highest character. But again try to gain this XP by doing things you enjoy.

    4. There are solo arenas like the Maelstrom Arena, which give out random Maelstrom weapons on vet completion. The Maelstrom Arena is in Wrothgar, so you will need the Orsinium DLC.

    Hope that helps. Enjoy

Pledges are daily dungeon quests---you have to join the Undaunted first: https://elderscrollsonline.wiki.fextralife.com/Undaunted

That gives you a new skill line with some VERY good passives (and situationally useful active skills). You can do pledges on normal difficulty until you feel ready to start working on vet pledges--I'd run normals until you hit 160, then gear up, then start doing vet pledges on the easier dungeons, if you're comfortable with them.

Research traits via different crafting stations (blacksmithing traits at blacksmithing stations, etc.). If you haven't started this yet, just know that you are a couple months away from being able to craft most full sets, and like a year away from having everything--here's a REALLY DETAILED but very helpful guide for new crafters: http://www.sunshine-daydream.us/ESO/crafting.html

What's a "pledge"? And how do u research traits?

Pledges are daily group dungeon quests given out by the undaunted. You can start doing them once you reach level 45 (you should have received a letter to visit the Undaunted enclave).

Once you have spoken to them at their enclave (In Mournhold, Wayrest or Elden Root), you can start taking 3 quests each day for different dungeons. There are 3 quest givers:

    1. Maj al-Ragath will give you pledges to the dungeons of the first 2 zones in each alliance (both I and II version)
    2. Girion the Redbeard will give you pledges for zones 3-5 of each alliance plus Coldharbour
    3. Urgalag Chief-Bane will give you pledges for the DLC dungeons.

Completing the dungeon in normal mode will give you an undaunted key. Completing it in Vet Hard Mode will give you 2 undaunted keys (I think)

With those keys, you can unlock the chests at the enclave to get shoulders for the monster sets. The shoulders drop from the chest that is named after the quest giver that gives pledges for that dungeon.

You can do these while you go for CP 160 and keep the keys. Once you are CP 160, you can go to the chest that drops the set you are looking for and open it several times in a row for better chances.

To research traits, you go to a crafting station and click on the research tab, select the piece you want to research and select the item in your inventory/bank. Researching that trait will consume the item, so be careful not to destroy something you want to keep.

1). For now just focus on upgrading your character, skills, and get in the habit or weaving light attacks and just put the idea of end game weapons to back of your mind for the time being. To be honest, a completely new player has a very, very, very slim chance of getting ideal weapons and they're almost irrelevant if they're not at cp160 anyway. So just hold out until about cp300-ish, by that time you'll have a better understanding of the game and your abilities.

2). Trials are pretty much a 12 man dungeon. The have unique 5pc sets that drop and can only be obtained from being in a group that all wanna run it. Usually end game sets are found in trials, again if you're not at, at least cp160 those sets aren't being optimized.

3). Pretty much yeah, post in a zone chat you're needing some training gear and by equipping that your character will gain xp much faster than not wearing training gear. Training shouldn't be looked at like a gear set for someone who doesn't know how to play, but for someone trying to level up fast. Yes, do the undaunted quest line which I believe you're able to start at lv45, do randoms dungeons as soon as you hit lv10 and do random battlegrounds (bgs) as well. The first random upon completion grants a big xp bonus.

    4) This is similar to #1), I'm not saying you can't do it, but there's no point in trying until you've hit cp160 again to optimize your gear. And you may be referring to the Maelstrom Arena in Wrothgar.

For now look up build videos, work on a rotation, get used to weaving light attacks if you plan to play as a damage dealer aka DD or DPS. Good luck, enjoy the game where you can and soon you'll realize this game is not a race for it doesn't benefit you. There's plenty of big headed cp810s that couldn't rip wet toilet paper with their builds. Also, the grind for gear will always be endless so long as the game keeps changing over time not to mention all the headaches that also come with RNG. Just my blunt thoughts.
