If the guy did it for the reason he stated, then it's all good. I doubt he'll be able to afford to do that every week so meh. It does highlight an issue though that I wish they'd address and that is this system really isn't a great one. A central auction house would be better, either like WoWs or GW2s. Really all this Trader system does is make it harder to sell and buy. I'm tired of running all over just to find the item I want and I'm tired of the massive gold difference in the same items on different Traders. Buying and selling is a pain in the butt in this game.

I don't like it, but it not that big of a deal. I have been through similar situations in the past with my guild. All it's done has motivated me more to keep doing what I have to, to make the guild stronger. I do think there should some changes to the biding system though not too sure what. Maybe like a early stage bidding before the final stage. If you win your bid on the early stage you would be locked into the spot but you could raise your bid still. If you lose the bid you can't bid on that spot but could bid on a different spot.

Don't ignore what happened at Rawl'kha those people saw the makings of the Auction House starting to creep up in this game and huried to bring light to it in a powerful way.

In my almost 20 yrs of playing MMOs one equation that holds true is

    Auction House*k = Dead Game

Where k is a many factors that usually lead to the death of the economy that favors the few and destroys the game for newer players.

Stagnation is death...remember that ....once a system doesn't change...it is dead....

Guildtraderbids is a part of the game, sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.
Had 2 of my tradeguilds compete about the same trader one week...

Not fun but part of the game

    One last thing btw.
Assuming what was said about the ghostguilds (or however they are called) is true and i was one of the affected ones i WOULDN'T be mad at the person who did this, i would blame the guildmasters who started this ****.
So BRAVO to that person for their sacrifice.

You realized that's a nonsense formula, right. Constant X (auction house: integer 1) multiplied by many other things equates to death of game. At which tolerance does k become impactful? 0, 1, 1000000. How many other things have to be included before the relevance of an auction house has any weight? Because that constant covers 1 element. The most important value in this equation is k as k will always equal k.

I don't like the idea of AH, but I like bs even less.

The only opinion I have about this is that it merely showcases how garbage the trading system is in this game. Otherwise, I don't care.

I didn't say it was. Because k is a variable it has greater weight. Auction house has to have value for the formula to work ergo constant. Let's make it boolean then instead of constant to satisfy your intention. If present then k has value, if not, then k*0 = k has no value.

So we can have many issues, but only presence of AH will kill the game.

    Like I said. Bs.

    Like I said. Bs.

You are right...I need to define what I think an auction house is...

MM+TTC+Guild Traders = Auction House in this game...

Now we take those things and say why.. ZOS deleted the block text of why it was so I will try to make it as simple as possible

    1. MM lets you track prices that your guilds are selling
    2. TTC lets you track prices from many guild traders
    3. Guild Traders sell the goods

When these things combine, they make an auction house.

Now what makes an auction house kill a game? It is when people can see all the prices everywhere and they use an initial sum to buy out all the lower priced items. They either hold it for a huge patch release when people will need it or sell it at 15% more of what they sold it for.

Now for the huge patch release they will have say 300 tempering alloys... lets just say they sold for 4k each...

They will break this into 8 tempering alloys and sell 5 in each of their guild shops for 50k.... They do this until it is all sold out... People are too lazy to go around to the other guild traders so they will bite it... now about 3 days to 7 days in... they continue to keep the lower priced tempering allloys off the market... but people are starting to see in their MM that it's sellling higher recently...

So now one raises the price to 60k... To make it seem like OMG ITS VERY SOUGHT AFTER!!!! There will be a need for the tempering alloy...but there is also a pseudo supply and demand being created just for the PATCH event... Now people looking at TTC and MM will see the prices went up and then everybody will start selling it at a high price...

THIS IS WHEN YOU LOWER IT JUST 5% and call it SAVINGS!!!!

BLEH....sorry bro.. I know it's not descriptive enough... but hopefully it comes together... I tend to write in jumbled mess.

    4. I think it's stupid and annoying, but not gonna rage because I can buy elsewhere, and when I find out where the good cheap traders that were there end up, I can buy from them again. But this frothing conspiracy crap is stupid, and the people who are buying into it being somehow meaningful are just looking for some kind of drama. FFS go rewatch GoT or something, people are trying to play a game here.

I find it funny but I can understand the rage of those affected. If this happens again it can potentially be dangerous since those big guilds will start bidding wars on other zones.

But as many have mentioned before this is WAI if gold comes from licit sources.

I don't find it funny but I'm not raging over it either. The well organized trading guilds will prevail and this is a mere blip in the radar. I'm a member of one of the trading guilds outbid. It will impact my sales for a week but fortunately have two other trade guilds that didn't lose their trader.

I do feel badly for my guild members, the other guilds impacted, and especially the guild officers who work their butts off each week to secure a trader. My Rawl'kha trading guild is well organized, organizes events for members and overall is a great guild to be part of. They are fair in their dues and my profits have soared as an active member. I'm always impressed with the leadership in the guild.

What irritates me is this was a troll move---not a single item is listed in these guilds. I hope these folks are out a ton of money and that they enjoy their 15 minutes of fame.

The guild trading system is the most annoying and silly thing in ESO for the ones playing the game. I don't know what were the motives behind this action, but it happens to point out how dumb the system is, so I find it pretty awesome.

You say that but I don't know. I mean how deep are his pockets?

He's put the big trading guilds in an interesting position and its a defensive one.

All he need do is to say he's bidding big on maybe two of the slots and not say which ones.

If the guilds want their spots back then they've either got to go large or gamble that the slot they are after is not one he's trying to keep. It may also cause other guilds to do a speculative bid in case the usual ones stay in Rimmen.

I'd definitely say he's mixed it up a lot.

The people who bought the spots may have worked harder then. I'm in EU, I just consider that as an impressive achievement to manage such a large scale troll.
There's nothing impressive at all when gold can easily be obtained via RMT or botting. Really, any moderately wealthy person could choose to do this any time without feeling it.

From what I can tell from afar, this isn't trade guild PVP, this is just pure griefing. It may be within the rules, but they had no legitimate interest in using those spots.

For a community of filthy carebear casuals, there's a lot cheering over misfortune here. Strange days.
