If this is common knowledge I apologise it I just found out if you install the official Xbox app you can connect it to the Xbox one and when typing use the phone instead of the virtual keyboard it’s a really big qol improvement for me.

Well I've had no luck with my wireless keyboard. It works for the Xbox home screen just fine, but not with ESO. I've turned the text chat on in the game settings but nada. Is there a setting on the Xbox I need to have toggled correctly? I did double check that I wasn't in "offline" mode.

    Groovy!

I plug in a USB keyboard. It cost me £2.50

The benefit of using the Xbox app, however, is that you can use voice to text and work much more quickly that way.

Imo that is crap. Too small button etc.

I agree, but it has it's limitations. It's certainly the best option though if you're a so-called "couch gamer" who wants to only have a controller on his, well, couch.

Wait so I just downloaded the app. How do I do this?

    1. Open app
    2. Turn on Xbox
    3. In the app click the top left looks like three white lines a menu will show up click connection fourth from the bottom
    4. Click the text that says connect to Xbox one if successful you can choose to connect automatically from now on.
    5. Try to type something ingame with the app open it should detect this and you should be able to type from your phone.

While in game you have to hit the 'enter' button on the wireless keyboard to prompt the text window to open so that you can start typing. If you just start typing regular buttons (letters/numbers) on your keyboard it will not enter into text chat.
