Maintenance for the week of March 30:
• [COMPLETE] ESO Store and Account System for maintenance – April 1, 1:00PM EDT (17:00 UTC) - 5:00PM EDT (21:00 UTC)

Hoping Steam availability date is wrong - said May 21

Aside from ZOS maintenance lasting however long on early access launch day May 20, early access starts whenever that gets done - presumably ~afternoon'ish PDT time.

But noticed on my Steam pre-purchase of Elswyr upgrade that on purchase confirmation screen it stated 'available 5/21" - assuming this isn't a typo or mistake, that means absolute best case if this steam availability notice is correct is 1 minute after midnight on 5/21, or about most of a day to half a day depending when maintenance ends and Steam users can start playing.

Note - I'm not talking about the Steam store date which still says June 4 - I am talking about when you -actually- buy the pre-order, the confirmation of payment, etc screen shows the notice 'Available 5/21'.

When I bought it, there stood available May 20 and when I bought it a couple of weeks later for my hubby, it said may 21. I'm so confused!

I mean, steam is right tho. Do you really expect to play on patch day?

8 hour maintenance, 30 minutes uptime until they discover a huuuuuuuge game breaking Bug, emergency shutdown and another 3 hour maintenance.

Expect to play elsweyr in 21.5... Steam knows how ZOS handles Update releases.

Did you miss the previous expansion patch days? Sure there were hiccups, but nothing preventing for the most part me playing ~at least half day or more.

1-Morrowind expansion: played most the launch day

2-Summerset expansion: even with the maintenance right after the patch, still played ~half day++

So yes, going purely by prior history, I expect to play good portion of launch day, assuming Steam actually lets pre-order buyers access download on May 20 vs 21.

Game is on steam but well downloaded by zenimaxs Launcher so it would be on the twentieth if its the launch day.
