Questions about treasure map and survey

1) Are those treasures always there or only appear when you get the map?
2) Are those treasures remain there if you destroy the map after you read it?
3) Do you need to bring along the map when you searching or opening the treasure?
4) Does it worth doing? It has legendary material? Rare motif and recipe? Non overland set? Nirnhoned item or exemplary jewel?

The nodes appear only when you get in range and have the map in inventory. If you destroy the map, or have it in a bank or a different toon the node won’t appear for you even if you already read the map.

Crafting surveys are tedious but worthwhile in the raw mats, which sell well in guild stores. Or use them to do your own writs on multiple toons and make bank.

Most treasure maps aren’t worth the effort, they mostly have garbage and one overland set piece from that zone. Occasionally jewelry. They are valuable in zones with desirable overland sets (Bangkorai and Rivenspire come to mind) and also in Vvardenfell and Summerset due to the chance at a motif page.

You need them on your person in order for the objects to appear, they disappear once you collect the object, they fixed it to where you cannot collect objects if you put the map into a banker, their loot is about equal to an intermediate to advanced locked chest, and the loot is based on the surrounding location.

if I'm not mistaken - master chest, yes. I tend to grab them anyways on my survey runs, but don't go out of my way for treasure maps alone.

I do all my survey maps as resources are precious to me.
With treasure maps I only do the ones in areas that may drop gear that I can use on my characters or sell. I have started to destroy the maps for areas where the gear is not useful to me, they are not worth my time. I did do them when my crafters were lower level and I wanted to deconstruct everything for crafting mats and for levelling my crafts.

    1) Treasure chests/survey nodes appear when you use the map/survey.
    2) No.
    3) Yes.
    4) Yes, it's worth doing the treasure chests. Regarding surveys, by the way you ask it seems you can be bored doing it but I can grab more than 1k mats under 20 minutes.

This games has choices: either you spent a couple of minutes doing surveys to get mats free pretty easily or you don't spend time at all doing surveys and once you need mats you go to traders...
