Hi there,
@susmitds here, I have getting quite a few pm asking details about my stamNB build for PvP, so here it is. No videos included as I am living away from home (so no desktop access

) and my dated laptop barely runs Cyrodiil properly at low settings and crashed ESO when I tried to record with Shadowplay. But I will try my best to explain it anyways.
General Information
This build is my personal attempt at a stamina nightblade open-world/duel DD PvP build for both CP/non-CP play that mixes great burst potential and mobility with good sustain, good survivability, fair pressure and group utility. The general theme of the build is to set up an NB house

, lure enemies into it and burst them down. Kind of similar to the old story of the Pied Piper of Hamelin, who lured rats and later children and then drowned them in a river. Alternative playstyles also work and have been discussed below.
Race
All races can work just fine but I listed the ones that work best below.
Khajiit - Stealthy passive. Crit bonus and 10% extra stamina recovery.
Preferred Race.Bosmer - Stealthy passive. 21% extra stamina recovery, 6% extra stamina and Disease immunity.
Preferred Race.Orc - Swift Warrior passive. 6% extra HP and stamina.
Imperial - 12% extra HP. 10% extra stamina.
Argonian - Tri-stat sustain is insane. 9% extra HP. 3% extra magicka. Great self-healing. Disease immunity.
Redguard - Too good stamina DD passives to leave out.
Food/Drink
Dubious Camoran Throne - Stamina, HP and stamina recovery (any race).
Lava Foot Soup-And-Saltrice - Higher stamina and stamina recovery (Imperial, Argonian, Nord).
Gear
I have three alternate setups for this build. The playstyle does not change much with either setup but difficulty of the setups vary quite a lot.
Gear Setup#1
This is the general setup, that is the easiest to use of the three. Trappings of Invigoration can be farmed from Normal Fang Lair. It restores 9k stamina if you use a stamina skill under 30% stamina once per minute. A very good pure sustain set and procs automatically during normal play. Damage-wise a bit weaker than other two setups but much easy to get used than the rest.
Gear Setup#2
This is a very balanced setup with great sustain, damage and self-healing. Shadow Walker restores 2K stamina and HP while cloaked or in sneak and is the strongest sustain set in the game when used properly and has a strong HoT attached to it. It turns Cloak to a pseudo Dark Deal giving stamNBs access to stamina on demand. The catch is that you can't move or else it stops till you stop moving again. This is the high risk high reward setup of the three with the highest straight damage.
Gear Setup#3
You might be wondering why use Transmutation on a stamina build. I will assure you that this build is one of the strongest sustain setups even for stamina nightblade and as Bloodspawn has been dropped for straight stat monster pieces, the damage also is the same as the other two, while also maintaining same if not higher defense. Let me explain how. I always felt magicka sustain is the secret to stamNB success and transmutation gives us two magicka recovery bonuses. The crit resist buff of transmutation allows dropping two-three Impen for Well-fitted body pieces, indirectly buffing our stamina sustain as well. This setup has 1.5k magicka recovery with 16k magicka while retaining the exact same other stats of the two other setups, basically allowing the user to nearly perma-cloak, increasing survivability manifold. I got 13 cloaks back to back with this setup amounting to almost 39 secs of invisibility. The only drawback is not having access to a reserve method to pool stamina from when you are running dry unlike the other two setups.
Skills
2H Bar
- Ambush - Preferred gap-closer choice. Mainly because it is the fastest gap-closer and it gives 2% crit from Assassination passives.
- Shadowy Disguise - Self-explanatory.
- DPS Spammable
- Surprise Attack - It is one of the iconic skills in the game. Hits super hard with a 11k tooltip and applies Major Fracture.
- Power Extraction - One of the most underrated skills in the game. It is AoE with 8m range, gives us access to ulti-gain from Siphoning Passives, undodgeable(bugged currently so it has like a slight chance of being dodged) and hits pretty hard with a 8.3k tooltip. Preferred choice in coordinated groups and against other NBs, dodge-spammers and speed builds.
- Rally - Our source of Major Brutality and a burst heal.
- Reverse Slice - Preferred choice of execute as it comes into life around 30% HP unlike Killer's Blade which works strictly below 25% HP.
- Incapacitating Strike - Great frontal burst with Major Defile and Stun built-in with added 25% extra damage for a short while.
Bow
- DoT
- Poison Injection - A great DoT that gets stronger as your target gets low on HP. Also procs the Master's Bow extra 301 Weapon Damage on your enemies. Preferred choice.
- Draining Shot - This skill becomes an irresistible moderate DoT with the Virulent Shot bow. It also stuns, knocks back your enemies and has a burst heal component to it. Not the preferred choice unless you are using the Virulent Shot bow though.
- Build Enabler
- Manifestation of Terror - This is the skill, the whole build is centered around. It is basically Time Stop on roids, can be set up prior to its activation and can CC twelve people at once over two traps from one activation. Referred to as fear trap, here onward.
- Shadow Image - This is a teleportation skill that can be used as a build enabler. It gives easy LoS access, increases our mobility manifold and helps out-outmaneuver enemies. Currently bugged and hence a bit unreliable. Use this if you are using Virulent Shot - Draining Shot setup. Referred to as shade, here onward.
- Shuffle - Our source of Major Evasion and snare removal.
- Resolving Vigor - Our primary heal. You might wanna cast this before going into attack combos under pressure.
- Relentless Focus - Our source of Minor Berserk. It is also an important part of our Combo, the Assassin's Scourge proc which is one of the hardest hitting things in the game.
- Ultimate
- Ballista - This ultimate is pure raw damage with insane numbers. Contrarily, it is very easy to avoid but in case, except wing-spamming DKs it can't really facetanked and hence force someone on the defensive.
- Dawnbreaker (either morph) - A good source of AoE burst. Both morphs work as we have easy access to CCs. FDB makes our ranged combo hit harder while DBoS itself hits harder. Doesn't exactly win over Ballista IMO except if in organized groups.
Damage Combos
Ranged damage combo - HA->Poison Injection or Draining Shot->LA till Bow proc(skip if you have Bow proc available)->Assassin's Scourge+LA
Melee damage combo - Ambush+LA->Spammable+LA->Execute
These are basic combos without Ultimate. Due to double-barring Spriggan's Thorn, the ranged combo hits like a truck with Assasin's Scourge hitting over 10k often. The melee combo is basically a followup finisher combo after the ranged combo. To effectively use this build, it is very important to be able set up and burst down enemies without depending on any ultimate.
Now let me explain how I use Ballista. Ballista has the advantage of having very high damage and my source of pressure on demand. I have had very polarizing results with it. Some people just melt to it, but rest remain unscathed by it. However, it always manages to force an enemy on the defensive. It gives me 5 secs of free reign over combat, in which I can escape or burst them down. Ballista is basically a distraction for the rest of my combo, which I execute while the enemy is busy dealing with Ballista. This is exactly why it is necessary to able to kill players without any ultimate as I use Ballista as an enabler for my combos, considering any damage it does as a bonus rather than part of my combo. It does not always work on the healbots and ultra-tanky builds, in which I use it to create an escape window.
Now that it is out of the way let me explain how the build really works.
Step I - The Setup
First a fear trap or shade is dropped near a choke point or a good vantage point that is hard to LoS near the area of the combat (E.g the area behind the fences near most Emperor Circle keeps or the new Postern houses inside the keep). Buff up and go and use LA from a distance to get the attention a few enemies (preferrably not tanky ones) and also get Bow proc up. Kite them back to fear trap or teleport back to shade and camp in stealth(will also regen stamina from Shadow Walker). Make sure to they don't lose you totally so make your general direction a bit obvious.
Step II - The Burst(fear trap version)
Just as the enemy is about to approach the fear trap, the ranged combo is performed and Ballista is dropped. Immediately the melee combo follows. If timed right, the player will get feared the exact moment Ballista starts and given the bow proc's slower speed, it will coincide with that moment as well, immediately dropping them below 50% HP. The melee combo should finish the enemy fast enough. If they manage to break free and start dodging, Power Extraction will still hit them hard through dodge eventually killing them or forcing them to block instead, when Reverse Slice will get the kill. In case they never move to the initial Fear trap to begin with, you can get them in the 10-20m range and surround them both on the front and back with a new Fear trap and drop Ballista and then perform the two combos and watch them dodge straight into a fear trap and get wrecked by Ballista.
Step II - The Burst(shade version)
In this case, you open with Draining Shot anyways for the stun. Everything else goes the same. You need to drop Shade and keep relocating to stop them on ganging up.
Step III - The Great Escape
You basically keep kiting them with the help of fear trap and shade, looking for opportunities to burst them down. And eventually either they all die or you will find yourself in this situation.

Then just hope there is a some kind of a divine intervention and there is a Organized ballgroup of your alliance hanging out nearby and pull them all straight into it like rats into a river, as I have done sometimes thanks to
@Vanzen 's guild always managing to be nearby.
Conclusion
It is one of the most fun builds I played. I honestly die in it more than tankier setups (most of which are due to overextending and taking on more than I can handle at once) but I kill a lot and deal even more damage in this build. Pair it with a stamden, stamsorc or stamDK and you can rip straight through lines of people.
Bonus Glass Cannon build
Skills-
Stats fully buffed (From solo play only, expect even better in groups) :-
Weapon Damage - 7.9K (Buffs+Balorgh(500 Ulti)+Clever Alchemist+Infused Master bow+Continious Attack)
Max Stamina - 36k
Max Health - 20.7k
Max Magicka - 10.5k
Resists - 40K+ (From Onslaught)
Stamina Recovery - 2.2K
Weapon Crit - 64%
Onslaught hits for 15k on the average players(as long it is empowered by Cloak for 10% more Weapon damage and Khajiit passive for yet another 10% extra damage + guaranteed crit) and can be constantly chained as it is free if it kills the enemy and thereby allowing to retain these stats continiously. Ballista melts people even before most can break free. I posted this build as particular people think my standard build is half-assed as a sustain build and is not investing in sustain. This build (inspired by
@TheRealSniker 's build) is to showcase how strong real glass cannon builds can get, in this case, even tank like resists. Only downside is well, it is a glass cannon, once you do run out of gas, you are effed.
