What's the current feeling toward Elsweyr?

It seems rather thin compared to Morrowind and Summerset. I'm not excited, but new content is the only thing that keeps me playing.

No, you don't. Only if you (re)buy te full version of ESO. Nit if you only upgrade to Elsewyr CE.

I did pre-order CE elsewyr. So far on PTS i was not really impressed. The same boring voice overs, Khajiit sounding like Englishman instead of Khajiit. Maybe because it was to early on PTS so i should look past that. But i won't refund. This chapter is however the make or break it chapter for me, including class balancing for PvP. If it totally sucks this summer i won't stick. If it is going to be great i will stick.

"I am a nightblade. Blending the disciplines of the stealthy agent and subtle wizard, I move unseen and undetected, foil locks and traps, and teleport to safety when threatened, or strike like a viper from ambush. The College of Illusion hides me and fuddles or pacifies my opponents. The College of Mysticism detects my object, reflects and dispels enemy spells, and makes good my escape. The key to a nightblade's success is avoidance, by spell or by stealth; with these skills, all things are possible."

Never been optimistic towards this year story content (that started with Wrathstone).

1st - Racial rebalance. It was poorly executed and was the totall oposite of its original goal (just a meta shift, nothig more, with some races left without a purpouse & use case).
2nd - Class rebalance. Same as the racial rebalance - it feels like they are changing stuff for the sake of changing and not actually imropving it. Remember those NB nerfs from the firsts rounds of PTS ? No ? All thet ppl will remember is the ridicolous incap change.
3rd - Adding aditional stuff to force us to buy next content. The one beeing the story that now "requiers" you to do DLC dungeons (that are now the part of the story). And the house that you get with Elswyer that will have locked rooms, unless of course you buy next DLCs that will have keys to those rooms.
4th - Necromancer and pvp chages. Never asked for Necromancer class, never was a fan of it. Seeing how much stuff balance wise necro can mess up in PvP & PvE, I dont really like it as necro seems to be even more P2W class than warden was.
Also we have deadric artefacts - Volendrung. I play this game since 2014. So far literally ALL atempts to stop ball groups in PvP only made them stronger. It will be the same with Volendrung. Anothet toy / mcguffin for ballgroups to play with.
5th - Game / server performance. I "play" on EU (yes, there is a reason why I have put that in " ". Nuff said.

At this point I think I will simply skip entire year of new content. It is not like I have something against the story or khajiit lore. I simply dont like where the game is heading. I also belive in "vote with your wallet" motto as this is the only thing gaming companies listen to - money.
Anyway, for now I have enaough content to do. I still have some quests in Summerset left to do.

Looking forward to Elsweyr, because of the necromancers, cats and dragons.

Necro seems like a class I'll put quite a lot of time into, really liked it. The zone looks pretty amazing, wasn't too impressed with the Sunspire trial but hey at least it's new.

40$ for a dlc? no thanks. Not wanting necromancer so it doesnt seem worth it to me. Give me warden class with it instead and i'll consider it.

It's not a dlc, it's a whole expansion with new class and questlines and new areas aswell as new housing and furnishings and a whole lot more.

I haven't been to the PTS but from what i have seen it looks amazing and I'm too excited to worry about negatives. Too many positives to enjoy and marvel at.. I bought the collector's edition and I can't wait for the cute pet and all the other goodies I get. Loving the mount I got already. 😊😊😊 I'm not bragging just exciting and I hope everyone gets it and enjoys it.

It's okay. Dragons are always cool, and the zone is pretty. The bards are quite amusing.

Necro makes me kinda sad as is missing perma pet so didn't feel right to me...

I get it that ZoS want to be 'different', but a lot of their attempts to be different miss the mark for me.

    so-so.

The land looks beautiful, and Khajiiti culture seems to be respected.

On the other hand, the necromancer is OP AF, and that doesn't sit well with all the talk about balance we had for the past major updates. The nightblades are getting hit with the nerfbat again.

My main is a strictly PvE nightblade Bosmer, initially a master thief. My second best character is a mag nightblade that fights with restoration staff... The idea was to attack and get healed by everything. A niche character, not intended for trials or anything, just for fun.

Bosmers got their stealth forcefully removed. Nightblades get shafted each update. Path of shadow was gutted with update 20 because "each class neeeds to bring something unique to the battlefield", so a skill couldn't both heal and hit (but templars kept their ritual of retribution)... All of this as a game of favourites for PvP, thinly veiled behind false reasons. It's pretty obvious when they can tell you that Bosmers not being stealthy fits the lore. It makes about as much sense as not making Argonians resistant to poison anymore, while they eat poison for breakfast.

So... Yeah, I'm worried. I've already lost some interest in the game, what with my favourite character being forcefully made into a guard rather than a thief, I wonder what ill will befall me with Elseweyr.

It feels small, but has a lot of new features. If you didn't complete vast majority of existing content and you are not vet trial main tank no point to buy it a full price imo.

The chapter thing has never been great value, but the Necro class is worth at least 1500 crowns based on the Warden cost. I say at least because classes only get sold for crowns after a year, and earlier access is generally considered to be worth more.

If I wasn't craving more content and a few necros, I would wait a year and buy the chapter for crowns since I have 32k of them with nothing to spend them on (until they add some more character slots).

At some point, I really should take a year off and come back with more new content for prices that better match their scale.

I have already pre-ordered the Collector's Edition upgrade. I have more than one account. They will get it, as well, but I don't know if I will pre-order it or just pick it up when I am ready to play on that account.

I had a lot of fun playing the Necromancer in early play testing. I have not had a lot of time to spend on PTS over the last four weeks, and my main testing on PTS has been more related to things other than Necromancer. I am looking forward to Live when I can dive back into the Necromancer.

How goes the PTR version? Any issues? How does it stack up to Morrowind/Summerset?

Cheap money grab by pandering to Diablo Necro and Skyrim fanboys. It's a DLC at best nowhere worth 40 bucks.
Sadly, ones who must express such terms as "fanboy" have already lost all arguments, past, present and future are fools. Thus only a fool would be the only one who believed it is a valid debate tool without offering critical thinking, logical scrutiny or thought out criticism.

Cause if this claim was accurate, the argument and blank retort would be valid as pandering if ESO necro held any resemblance to either Diablo 2/3 or Skyrim skill line other than name.

Agreed 100%. Anyone who needs to use names in an argument to dismiss any opinions different from their own usually has a very brittle position and isn't interested in genuinely understanding why other people feel the way they do.

Personally, I never ask for more classes because I don't want more whining about balance.

But I do enjoy more classes. I already have 3 of each current class (14/15 are max level) and will do at least 2 necros. Don't know anything about Diablo necros.

I also don't crave more Skyrim in the game, as I already played Skyrim plenty. But obviously a company should try to do what will appeal to customers. That isn't pandering. That is just not being suicidal.

They define it as a "Chapter" which are just DLCs renamed so they can charge for them directly rather than allow access to them through ESO+.

Whether they be called Chapters or DLCs, all Q2 and Q4 expansions bring a new zone. All new zones have their own questlines, new areas, new housing, and furnishings. Beyond that, Elsweyr does not bring "a whole lot more".

Anything Elsweyr is bringing, both Morrowind and Summerset brought something similar. Elsweyr lacks the additional major features brought by previous Chapters such as the Battlegrounds PVP mode of Morrowind and Jewelry Crafting system of Summerset.

The zone is very good. It has a nice mix of environments big differences in heights and all the different types of khajiti's around. And importantly there is no impassible mountains like we had in Morrowind and Summerset, you can just ride wherever you like. Unfortunately there is quite a lot of locked doors and empty space to go with the expansive zone.

Nercomancers have positives and negatives, they have a unique play-style but it is still a little clunky and costs a lot of resources. Also no shields, movement or execute atm.

I have not been doing too many of the quests because I don't want to spoil myself too much but I have liked the ones I have done that continues to be the best part of the game.

Balance.... is an illusion. *shrug* atm its only the nightblades that have got substantial changes and none of the other classes have been touched basically. Grim focus loses the 8% amp and it is moved to Ambush as vunerability which lowers the base nightblades damage. Then the grim focus bow is now a tank skill that gives damage prevention and a healing bow and no longer a dps skill. Incap well... it is constantly in flux I don't know where it will land. Wait at least another patch before crying too hard i feel like 5.04 is the balance patch that matters.

All the cast time abilities now do a lot less damage for apparently easier weaving but I am really not sure how that works
