Progression through zones, scaling, and drops discussion

What do you guys think of every zone had different leveled pve content getting harder and harder until it reached above level cap so it was actually a struggle and would take strategy to defeat a very and content but all drops would still scale to your level. So if you wanted a set from a lower level area and you were high level you could still use a set from a lower level area. Just a thought obviously won’t happen but idk what do y’all think?

No, it didn't, and you also outleveled the zones and enemies became too easy. If you want hard PvE content, that's what dungeons and trials are for.

Gear was scaled. It did not scale with you.

And forget trying to gather a dropped set, you would have the first piece found be several levels below the last piece you acquired. Much.like today, gear farming was still best done end game. Just now it takes far less time to reach end game.

I think you mean gear was leveled. So, if you killed an enemy in a zone that was level 10, you would get level 10 gear. But, that was only if you hadn't yet outleveled the zone. If you had outleveled the zone, you didn't get any drops from mobs and only got the quest rewards, which again, were leveled.

The worst part was that you leveled so fast that you would end up vr6 in a vr7 zone and you couldn't use your drops. The current situation is much better as level no longer pushes you to ignore content.

The biggest problem with this, is going to be (I would imagine) that a good part of the player base is not going to be able to complete said zone. If you make over land PvE hard, you are going to lose players. Now, this is a compound problem and a very difficult solution. With the number of players playing the game today, it is impossible to balance PvE for everyone. What you might find easy, someone else is going to struggle with. And with the vast majority of the community, get gud and l2p lolz, response, there will not be enough players left to support the game.

I think the current model works pretty well, with the gear drops scale to looter's level. And if you remember back to Craglorn before the change, you will realize just how your idea will not work. If you are not in the power curve of the new release of the zone, you will far behind and have a very difficult time catching up.

Other than adding a player toggle for difficulty, such as vet setting for over land content, it's just not going to work.

It was scaled to the zone you were in, within a range. That is what I meant. So, as an L40 in a L35 area, your drop was L35, not an L40. So not leveled in the character-centric sense.
