Try changing your DNS to googles (8.8.8.8 iirc)

It helps a lot with Akamai. Not sure why but I suspect that it has to do with a built in drop-connection defense mechanism for when the same IP comes in from a different node.

Already changed to google dns long ago/ didnt help.
    Thanks for the advice anyway.

1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1 are more gooder.

Damn I accidentally preordered Elsweyr Collector's edition, renewed ESO+, and bought 12k more crowns.

I have had major issues starting from Wolfhunter. I couldn't download updates from the launcher and had to resort to using a VPN. There's a thread here in support i believe. We were told it was our ISP when really it wasn't. When pts for Elsweyr went live everything is finally mysteriously working again. Akamai is a problem.

Same here. I had to pay an extra 10$ a month do download updates and patches. I also let ESO friends leech off my VPN so they could actually play. Akamai deffinatly is a problem.

I paid for a VPN on my first couple downloads, till i decided i'm not gonna pay for an extra service. I said since that time that if it was server wide it would've been fixed. Seeing it was only affecting a small portion of the community they didn't give a crap. They stop responding after we were told we need to call our ISP.

Yep... And close the whole thing down. Imo, they need in house protection against dds not the ridiculousness that is akamai.

But the alternative is what they are doing. You give them money, they see that and stop caring. So keep giving them money for crowns and eso+ youll see zero change.

The rub, however, is that if businesses don't make money, they just close up shop. Which is precisely what would happen to ESO if the profitability drops to a certain point. They wouldn't devote resources to something unprofitable, largely because they wouldn't have the resources to devote.

Better plan is to keep posting screen shots of routing pathways which clearly show that akamai is the bottleneck for many many people.

Because thats worked for the last 5 years, im spending my money else where.

Quite frankly, most of the posts are "FIx lAGgg" and have nothing informative about the routing of the user's data. We need more posts and reports like THIS one which provide data. I'm not saying there aren't things zos needs and should do, but de-funding the game = them pulling the plug on the game.

Can confirm that using Google DNS or any good DNS service is better than whatever DNS gets assigned by your ISP or however that works. It won't solve all your problems but it is an easy and worthwhile step. You need two and they're 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

Do you consider occasionally dipping into a thread and being like "Hey guys, we've had to remove a few comments, keep it civil, alright," to be acknowledging the issue? If so, barely.

    LOL.

BTW, I figure it would be more prudent to keep the major thread going instead of diluting it with another thread that is saying the same thing.

Why you pay akamai btw? To protect your servers ? I see they do a good work.

I get your upset about that vid, but akamai is for dds protection. The cheat detection is in house.

I used to work for one of the UKs largest online fashion companies. We ditched Akamai after a few month on account that our customers were experiencing severe lag even from within the UK! Our sla was that web pages had to load in 2 seconds or less. Most of the time it exceeded this.

It’s a nice idea and it’s great where you’ve got static load times and connection / ping isn’t critical - but where it is used that way it has massive impact on service and connectivity . For online games and particularly ESO it’s a massive no no. You’d be better using other (cheaper) services instead.

Akamai is the go to for large corporations because they are the most well known CDN, not because they are the best or most stable.
