This method requires Advanced Filters add-on.
I would much rather have the functionality of Advanced Filters be part of the stock UI. That would be a major improvement for the game.
For the Record, we already have enough "Are you sure?" Questions in the game.

I would not mind if there was an option, to have a toggle for not "using" a recipe or motif... but to just put in another "Are you sure?".. umm no, thanks.
Have I made mistakes? sure, not 200K ones.. but then again, I would be much more careful if I knew I could make those kinds... same way I will be more careful on my way to work today.. it's raining, flooding in fact. Mistakes happen. As another poster said, all my recipes and motif's go in the bank.
I generally ask my friends if they need a recipe or motif before I go to sell them, so I am doubly careful with that. All my characters can make a couple of the base recipes that they use the most, but I did sell off about 10 Terigon Chickens..

"drastically" dude you just press the button twice, you lose half a second to learn a recipe, it;s not like you learn 1000 recipes all in one go anyway, and it would solve the problem.
This is a UI issue on the Xbox. If I open a container and take everything, if there is a recipe, it will be the next selected item, even if there are other containers still to open. If a container doesn't have a recipe, the next container is selected.
I think if you keep an already known recipe in your supplies that get's selected instead of the new unknown recipe. That seems to be a workaround on the Xbox.
I don't think this needs a confirmation dialog, the solution should be for the UI to not automatically select a consumable item unless that kind of item is the only item left in the supplies window. A user should have to explicitly select a consumable item if there are other non-consumable items to select or open.
I'd like an account-wide recipe book, motif, and furnishing codex. Who wants to juggle and switch around all the time to make sure a specific person learns it? If it was an account-wide thing it wouldn't be a problem. The game would tell you per item if your account knows it or not. Allowing you to not make mistakes. It would also be nice to not be punished for having the 7 crafting professions split amongst two characters because when you started the game there weren't enough skill points to really have a main spec all crafting and have enough left over points to be your main. Ready for pve or pvp. When they added that achievement for that hammer I rolled my eyes. Now I am going to have to do jewelry crafting researching all over again. I will also have to do enchanting, provisioning, and alchemy over on my main. The skill points are plentiful enough now, but multiple achievements are split up. I wish more things were account-wide. That way it wouldn't matter who used what and once you know something you can't use it again. You'd also be able to just spam over everything making it faster and easier to see what you do or don't know. Whatever you can't use you know it's been learned before and can't waste it on the wrong person. So, you can trade, sell, or send it to a friend.

It's been more than 2 years. It's kinda hilarious that when you want to sell a useless trinket to a fence, you get a warning there's no buyback. Or when you want to destroy some junk you got as level up or event REWARD that's worth zero gold, you have to type out DESTROY
