Learning recipes on a wrong char....

So zos, can you please make it so each time you learn a blue or superior furnishing recipe the game actually asks you if you are sure about it? Because you know, you might be opening boxes, you press the button one more time and boom, 160k *** gone.

I mean seriously, wtf zenimax? How can you not think of stuff like this??

Same thing for motifs, it's baffling that you did not think of this, and it;'s been 2 years, TWO YEARS.

Yes i am pissed, because this is pretty basic stuff that is already implemented in the game, and it would prevent stuff like this from happening, so yea, it is also zos fault for not thinking about this, i just lost possibly 200k because of this garbage, not only that but it's also 100 % worthless because it's not my main crafter.

Been there before. To avoid this I click on Consumables, then click Containers sub-category, and open everything under this section. When motifs/recipes are extracted they do not show under the Container sub-category.

This method requires Advanced Filters add-on.

It's been more than 2 years. It's kinda hilarious that when you want to sell a useless trinket to a fence, you get a warning there's no buyback. Or when you want to destroy some junk you got as level up or event REWARD that's worth zero gold, you have to type out DESTROY :D

But this shouldn't even be a problem.

You might have lighting fast reflexes, but you slip and press the button once more and boom gone, you might not be paying much attention because admittedly it's boring to do crafting dailies on many characters, or you might even be paying attention, but after you open the container you are not on another point in your inventory, and boom gone.

Why to solve this problem an addon is necessary and do all this extra work on your char just to solve something that should not even be a problem, and on 1 char it might not be much, but if you do it on many you are bound sooner or later to *** up, also there is another problem, doing this process on 1 char might not be much, but when you are doing more doing this process that is already boring will become mind numbing, and again this shouldn't even be a problem, especially considering how easy it is to solve.

I would much rather have the functionality of Advanced Filters be part of the stock UI. That would be a major improvement for the game.

For the Record, we already have enough "Are you sure?" Questions in the game.

    Khajiit has a rule.

Every recipe or motif page anyone gets it goes in the bank.

This one is the only one who learns them or sells them - therefore not accidentally selling something she does not know.

However yes some sort of guard against the so easy accidental click would be appreciated - something you could perhaps turn on or off in the options in case some travellers find it annoying?

Or perhaps the relevant magic words could be added to allow addon authors to do something with this?

I have another idea, they could make an option that prevents you from learning recipes as long as you have it checked, that way it;s impossible to learn one, and if you want to learn it you just have to uncheck the box, which is faster in the long run than a are you sure option, as well as more secure.

I don't mind such options provided the ability to disable them is in the initial prompt window so that when you're first asked if you're sure you want to do something it also has a check box to tick if you don't want to be asked again. That's preferable to having to scour through all the game settings to find the one thing you want to disable. Really tho', these sorts of options are only necessary for those who don't pay attention to what they're doing (unless lag is a factor as it can be for some players).

    __________________________Backstories:_________________________

Ras Kalik the Vestige, a renown Redguard warrior; He has been blessed to save Tamriel from Molag Bal’s destructive Planemeld while reuniting the Five Companions. His further accomplishments after defeating Molag Bal, has been to stop the destruction of Morrowind, the Clockwork City, return order to the isle of Summerset and create a new king in Wrothgar and a queen in Elsywer. These events have made him a living legend and continue to lead him into new adventures throughout Tamriel, as well as into the hearts of many ladies including the Elf Queen, Aryenn. Over many years of adventurous travels, Ras Kalik had become a loner, until he re-visited his homeland of Alik'r.

Alik'r and it's cities were overrun by the undead Ra-Netu and therefore he made an allegiance with Alik'r's own Ash'abah tribe. These Ash'abah with his help, cleansed the city of Sentinel in Alik'r desert and it's surrounding areas of the undead brought to life by the Withered Hand. After rescuing Sentinel from the undead zombies, King Fahara’jad’s personal bodyguard the Goliath of Hammerfell, who was given this name by Imperials in the region; was asked to assist the tribe after learning of the defeat of the Withered Hand to the Ash'abah. Kalik promised Goliath he would task him with fighting living enemies on the battlefield if he so desired. Goliath being a Yokudan warrior wields a massive sword in respect to the Ansei, a gift given by the Imperial, Cinan Tharn. Not many soldiers are able to wield double two handed weapons, but Goliath loves to get up and personal in a fight, so he also carries a giant maul, both weapons laced with magical flames.

Jux Blackheart is a master thief that masquerades as a Bard at the Sisters of the Sands inn, with his younger sidekick Lucky Hunch for pilfering and gambling during this time. Jux was known to infiltrate any towns bank vault he came across and even delved into Ayelid ruins without detection. Kalik can vividly recall the night he met the famed thief. Jux found himself rummaging thru a slightly inebriated Kalik’s pocket for too long, on a full-mooned night and because of his greed and the glimmer of his golden armor in the moonlight. He lost his left pinky fingertip as a lesson! But in return, he gained a new friend, as it was his first time since a child being caught red-handed...

Upon arrival back in the Alik'r after many moons of adventuring, Ras Kalik ventures to Bergama. Visiting The Winking Jackal, he runs into Jux Blackheart, who introduces him to the coin game Crowns vs Forebearers (Heads vs Tails) and Golden Dwemer (RBG).... Jux constantly takes gold from the unfortunate thru theft or gambling, his biggest gambling victim is actually his partner in crime known as Lucky Hunch the Gambler. Lucky doesn't mind losing any gold coins to Jux... as Jux saved him from Altmer slavers in Summerset, by stealing a key and sending him on a boat to the mainland years prior. Lucky spent years in slavery with Khajiits in Summerset and picked up the art of subterfuge, using illusion magic disguises and stealing there.

Kaotik Von’Daemon an outcast, and a half-caste between a Breton mother and a Redguard father. Kaotik become a pariah due to his conjuration of Daedra pets. He was taught healing magic during his childhood years by his Breton mother. His father due to Redguard customs exiled him from the desert, sending him by wagon caravan to be a soldier in the war in Cyrodiil. He happened to meet Kalik while traveling from Alik'r, during this long caravan ride the caravan he was in was ambushed in Bangkorai by a group of bandits. Kalik by chance was also traveling thru this area on his Auridon Warhorse (which was bestowed to him by his friend, Darien Gautier). During this ambush, Kalik was able to rescue five hostages from the bandits. Kaotik was the first rescued, and Ras Kalik also recruited him to be in the Ash'abah tribe. These core Ash'abah tribesmen may never be seen together in travel as they partake in their own adventures but they always know what each other is doing; as they frequent a hideout in northern Bankorai. Their hideout an old Orc castle ruin, is kept watch by Nuzhimeh and she passes messages written between them, and frequently they also enjoy her company and her bed.

The other men rescued were a Dunmer banker, an Imperial mercenary and two other soldiers, an Imperial and a Breton Knight, stating proudly he was an Akavir descendent. One of the Imperials, Cinan, claimed to be related to Abnur Tharn the Battlemage of the Imperial Elder Council (One of Ras Kalik's mentors in the Five Companions). Cinan Tharn was really Abnur's drunkard treasure hunting illegitimate son. He was caught smuggling artifacts out of the Ayleid ruins in Cyrodiil and the elder of the two Imperials was Tyrus Septim a retired Imperial navy battle-mage (now a Lycan mercenary living in the city of Rimmen) and guard to the Tharn family. As much as Abnur Tharn hated his half-sister Euraxia, he dislikes his bas†ard son Cinan more. Tyrus now a ruffian and privateer had been paid by Abnur Tharn to watch over Cinan as much as possible. Cinan Tharn a drunkard, loves to drink at least a quarter barrel of Nord mead before he raids various delves and dungeons for relics to sell on the black market. Cinan also plans to one day, run an illegal gambling ring... which he thinks will net him more gold for his wares.

The Dunmer captive shackled to the Imperials looked familiar to Kalik from his time in Morrowind.... and he recognized him as Tythis Andromo a House Telvanni slave-owner and banker from Vvardenfell. During a rough interrogation to Tythis, Ras Kalik learnt why the bandits accosted him. The racist Dunmer was providing slaves as soldiers for the Three Banner War. The bandits were trying to negotiate a lucrative ransom for Andromo and the Imperials.... Kalik did not need any of this gold and he could never set Tythis free as he did with the two Imperial soldiers. His past involvement with slavery and war crimes, made Kalik's blood boil. He chose not to execute Tythis, as he figured the worse punishment for this former rich and opulent slave owner, is to now be an imprisoned servant for Ras Kalik and the tribe.

Herzog Zwei the Genesis a reknown Imperial/Akavirri battle-mage. His roots going back to Akavir through his mother’s bloodline. (His mother is descended from the Akaviri, through Versidue-Shae, and his Imperial father met her in Hakoshae, while traveling) Herzog earned the nickname "the Genesis" from his father as a child, as he was his mother's first born child, and last, as she tragically died in child-birth.

Herzog was seeking to purchase an artifact from Cinan Tharn, before their capture and was meeting Tyrus while in Rimmen, who introduced him to Cinan. This artifact being the Ayelid artifact; the sword Sinweaver. After their rescue and the exchange of gold to Cinan for the sword he decided to slip away before Ras Kalik could question who he was, and why the Akavir descendant really wanted that sword. Herzog was headed to Nagastani — An Ayleid ruin in eastern Cyrodiil. He had read in scrolls that the Sword would give him magical powers to meet his mothers spirit, if he performed an Ayleid ritual at an old shrine hidden there. Equipped with the artifact sword, he was off to start his own adventure but Ras Kalik, did indeed notice the sword however and instead sent a letter to Jux Blackheart (whom also was interested in Ayleid treasures), to attempt to find Herzog and acquire the sword. (*Azani Blackheart in Elder Scroll's Oblivion is Jux's descendant some 747 years later)

And so the Redguard, Imperial and Akaviri men parted ways ... While Ras Kalik went off to Elsweyr to encounter the latest threat to Tamriel, with Abnur Tharn and Sai Sahan - - DRAGONS!! Little did Ras Kalik know a few people were awaiting him in Senchal besides Sai. A necromancer survived his attack on the Withered Hand, while in Alik'r. The necromancer known as Auriek Siet'ka is also following him to the land of the Khajiits and Cacique the Sage of Ius a Shaman mystic who has become attuned spiritually with Tu'whacca (a Redguard God) and Ius (the Animal God), after being burned severely by the escaped dragons in Elsywer, is awaiting his arrival also. Aurik is a soldier of the Daggerfall Covenant that was introduced to necromancy while in the military, even though this magicka art is not spoken of openly by most of the Military leaders. He came to Alik'r and worked with the Withered Hand before Ras Kalik intervened on their plans. After the defeat of the Withered Hand, he aligned with the Worm Cult, and is constantly adapting and perfecting his necromantic arts.

After his journey to Rimmen, Kalik heads south to Senchal, in the southern regions of Elyswer. This new adventure will also put him on a path to meet a strange Redguard man. The stranger which was infected with an untreated Peyrite disease and also was the exiled from the Order of the New Moon cult, due to his sickness. He originally joined the cult to worship Laatvulon, the green dragon, mistakenly thinking it was the Daedric prince Peyrite. This confused and suffering cultist is known as Tsar al-Bomba and he is on a path to spread the disease. He was originally infected in Orccrest while recruiting members there. Can Ras Kalik and the shaman Cacique cure this poor soul, only time will tell. Little does Tsar al-Bomba know, that his infection is tied to Vampirism, and eventually the desire for blood will take over his mind. Senchal also offers Kalik his latest love interest... Aeliah. Whom he fondly led thru battles with the Dragonguard.

After the trek thru the heat, tropical and desert climate of Northern and Southern Elyswer, Ras Kalik heads north to the cold mountain range of Skyrim. His companion friend Lyris beckons for him with a letter sent by crow...

Movárth Piquine - a former vampire hunter (now infected), within the Fighter's Guild (and a secretive necromancer) was in Skyrim working with the Morthaal Guard. On a patrol mission he was caught in Frewien's ice curse outside of Morthaal with the frozen undead. Movárth's vampiric infection kept him from becoming an undead minion to the curse. He was able to use necromantic ice-magic to encase himself safely until he was freed with Freiwen, when the Vestige Ras Kalik broke the curse.

Uri Ice-Heart - brother of Urfon Ice-Heart. The twin sons of Atli and Oljourn Ice-Heart. The Ice-Heart family are originally from Markarth but now reside on the Jerall Mountain range near Cyrodiil, with their younger sister Araki. The twins had joined the Winterborn Reachmen while living in Markarth. Urfon pushed west to Orsinium with the Winterborn Clan, leaving his family behind. Uri stayed behind with his parents and sister to live in the family cabin for safety, avoiding the Vampire plague infiltrating the Reach. After news reaches him and he hears of Urfon's death... Uri leaves and heads home and is seeking vengeance. Meanwhile, his sister has also moved on to Windhelm to join the Fighter's guild. He will visit his sister, once before going to seek vengeance and she will craft him armor mixed with ice, called Stalhrim armor. Uri fearing death, after his brother's passing, falls victim to the convincing talk of Movárth at a Nordic tavern, and will also becomes a vampire.

So, your solution is to drastically slow down the process, by requiring a confirmation on even more things in the game, because you can't be "bothered" to slow down and you accidentally consumed something that was "worth" a good amount of fantasy money, which was probably worth way less than your MM price precisely because of the event, so the market was flooded with them. :joy:

I would not mind if there was an option, to have a toggle for not "using" a recipe or motif... but to just put in another "Are you sure?".. umm no, thanks.

Have I made mistakes? sure, not 200K ones.. but then again, I would be much more careful if I knew I could make those kinds... same way I will be more careful on my way to work today.. it's raining, flooding in fact. Mistakes happen. As another poster said, all my recipes and motif's go in the bank.

I generally ask my friends if they need a recipe or motif before I go to sell them, so I am doubly careful with that. All my characters can make a couple of the base recipes that they use the most, but I did sell off about 10 Terigon Chickens..

"drastically" dude you just press the button twice, you lose half a second to learn a recipe, it;s not like you learn 1000 recipes all in one go anyway, and it would solve the problem.

I would despise having to confirm every time I want to learn a recipe, plan or motif, especially during an event like this, where I am blasting through stacks of them at a time. It’s annoying enough having to hit a key to return to inventory after every motif. What I could see is an option for a confirmation dialog on a per-character basis though.

    - scroll down to item... Press "A" to wear item.. .. Are you sure, Item will be bound.. Press "A"..

    - Jubillee smithing crate... Press "A" to open ..shows three items.. Press "A" to take, Press "X" to take all
Presses X. Cycles through pressing X and A to get all items from all the 'boxes' quickly cause.. crafting character did the crafting dailies.
    * items left over.. all are ones I already have.. into the bank they go.

Now.. my Sorceress does the Mirkmire dailies ( dragon knight does the Mage guild ).. I go slow to keep her from "using" the motifs and recipes. She usually does both and I collect both sets of 'rewards' before opening the boxes. Not as many as my crafting characters.

Is it drastically slower? yes.. but not so drastic that I want another "are you sure" to make it quicker!

This is a UI issue on the Xbox. If I open a container and take everything, if there is a recipe, it will be the next selected item, even if there are other containers still to open. If a container doesn't have a recipe, the next container is selected.

I think if you keep an already known recipe in your supplies that get's selected instead of the new unknown recipe. That seems to be a workaround on the Xbox.

I don't think this needs a confirmation dialog, the solution should be for the UI to not automatically select a consumable item unless that kind of item is the only item left in the supplies window. A user should have to explicitly select a consumable item if there are other non-consumable items to select or open.

My suggestion for this (which won't fix every situation such as a double-tap/lag click) is to have the option to lock consumables. What is nice about this is that it would be an option for those who want it (like equipment) but wouldn't add another hoop for everyone else who doesn't care to jump through.

I made a thread about it where I've linked multiple posts, and show that this change has community support.
    https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/456097/request-lock-consumables-2019-version-3-yrs-in-the-making#latest

If you think this is a good idea, please post there too. :)

That's the way it works with the 360 controller on PC... Not all my character have an extra known recipe.. which I probably should do. Thing is except event's I don't cycle through anything quickly.

How about just add a recipe learning ability On/Off toggle per character? Then you can just toggle it to off for characters that you do not want to learn any recipes. If you decide later to learn recipes on a character that was previously toggled Off, you just switch recipe learning toggle to ON.

It hasn’t happened with a recipe yet, but while opening loot boxes (77 per day crafting) I accidentally double clicked an attribute respec scroll. Not a massive loss and it did make me slow down a bit.

I've done this...it is annoying, but I'd rather occasionally do this than have ANOTHER step added to the process so that EVERYTIME I open a container or learn a recipe I get a confirmation box.

The easiest solution was already recommended by someone, move to containers tab and open there, or just pay attention. I never click the topmost container, until it is the last one, for this very reason.

This is something that should, honestly, only burn you once, if this is happening to you frequently enough that you feel they need an oversight mechanism like a confirmation box, then you really just need to be more careful.

I'd like an account-wide recipe book, motif, and furnishing codex. Who wants to juggle and switch around all the time to make sure a specific person learns it? If it was an account-wide thing it wouldn't be a problem. The game would tell you per item if your account knows it or not. Allowing you to not make mistakes. It would also be nice to not be punished for having the 7 crafting professions split amongst two characters because when you started the game there weren't enough skill points to really have a main spec all crafting and have enough left over points to be your main. Ready for pve or pvp. When they added that achievement for that hammer I rolled my eyes. Now I am going to have to do jewelry crafting researching all over again. I will also have to do enchanting, provisioning, and alchemy over on my main. The skill points are plentiful enough now, but multiple achievements are split up. I wish more things were account-wide. That way it wouldn't matter who used what and once you know something you can't use it again. You'd also be able to just spam over everything making it faster and easier to see what you do or don't know. Whatever you can't use you know it's been learned before and can't waste it on the wrong person. So, you can trade, sell, or send it to a friend.

I'd be fine with all green and sub cp160 recipes being account wide, given they are only of value to low level characters. It seems foolish that leveling provisioning on alts is just spamming food to go in the bin.

As for motifs account wide, depends on the motif. Motifs attached to dailies or dungeons, no, that would lower their value and people would play less because of it. Motifs found in the overworld or through quests (Soul Shriven) or Undaunted Chests (Merc) or motifs that have hit so low in value that they are just clutter or motifs from festivals that just clog up the guild stores? Sure. I'd even say once found and consumed, it doesn't drop again, or the drop chance is greatly reduced.

I'm happy for account wide in so far it as it doesn't diminish farming and removes clutter from guild stores. I like the festivals, I hate the clean up afterward.

I do, along very probably with many other players who run multiple characters in order to play the game fully with all of them, or who want individual characters to fulfil certain specific roles.

Besides which, haven't those players clamoring for everything earned by one character to be extended to the other characters on their account learned anything yet from the imminent unlocking of skyshards and probable unlocking of guild skill lines? The only way you're going to get recipes etc known on one character unlocked on your other characters is through the Crown Store - and very probably at prices with which you will not be happy!

Some people just seem to want every aspect of this game to be monetised. Be careful what you wish for.

On console, there are no add ons, so I start at the bottom of my reward boxes and work my way up. Have to click a little bit more, but it's saved me a few times. Watch that last box, though!!

It's been more than 2 years. It's kinda hilarious that when you want to sell a useless trinket to a fence, you get a warning there's no buyback. Or when you want to destroy some junk you got as level up or event REWARD that's worth zero gold, you have to type out DESTROY :D

You know...for ages I thought those damn treasure trinkets had some other hidden value because of the warning. I had so many of them sitting in my bags because I was worried that they were actually had some purpose to them hahahaha. Lol those noob days

Argh, no, it would be awful to have to click through an "are you sure" on every single recipe and blueprint.
It would be a much better idea to have the ability to lock them like we can lock weapons and armor.
