Is it possible to DPS properly with higher ping?

One of the best DPS in PC/NA for years now plays with 300+ ping.

    You can do it.

    This exactly

It is not hard to do decent dps on shithouse ping as shown in my previous post, you just need to get familiar with it and practice, no one was ever instantly good at something they needed to work to get where they are today

Please post a video of anyone doing 50k to 60k dps on a 300plus ping, self buff, self sustain, no other players aiding him/her. Any role any class.

It would be a great help and motivation.

How about this you come stand next to me while I do a parse and I’ll post it in group my internet is way to crap for that alternatively I can invite you to my discord full of 250-350+ Ping players and you can look at those

Something for every "But I manage XX DPS in YYY Ping" person to remember

Just becasue you can do it, does not mean that everybody can.
after all, the same issue can effect 100 different people in 100 different ways

The OP is specifically asking if high ping prevents them from reaching upper tier DPS. Many of us playing from Asia or AU have stated that it is possible and can reach 40k+ with pings in excesses of 250 and more often around 300. The answer is a firm no, it does not prevent you from reaching upper levels of DPS. Any limitations on your DPS at 250 ping are self induced and just require practice and the right gear.

The 40K+ DPS is extremely hard to impossible at 125 latency.
Sadly, that's why some of the harder content is "closed"(unnecessary guild requirements) to players who are too far from the server.

This is entirely untrue lol. 125 ping making life difficult :D I would do anything for 125 ping. Also guilds from AU frequently run all vet HM trials.

You can reach high DPS on high ping but I find it harder than on a normal connexion, hence I think it takes some dedication

But the biggest issue for me are freezes and unstable ping, they tend to kill your DPS

Aside from that it is doable with proper practice, I would not say easy but clearly feasible.

Might be class specific but about a year back ish(been on hiatus since then) when I was about 500 cp and mech acuity was meta on a lot of builds I was running it in combination with bsw and scoria and touching about 37-38k on my magblade. And this was when supposedly dps was generally lower since the highest parses now seem to be higher than the best parses back then(could be wrong about that but it's just what I've seen).

My ping is about 300-320 on average so it is definitely doable you just gotta take the time to practice. The main dps loss will come from screwing up light attack weaves and bar swap cancels but you can learn to delay it according to the lag. Ping spikes however will destroy you regardless of how good you are. I'd be happy if my ping could stay at 300 but every now and then it'll spike and it'll screw me over especially in pvp.

Fail to see dps on target dummies in private instances as an accurate gauge of performance under high ping.

If they have a high ping while doing it, then it proves the point to the OP directly.

If you fail to see that you just fail....

Ok throw in frequent loss of use of any skills, 50% drop in frame rate and ridiculous cc..get back to me with your dps parses.

Decent dps is 2 buttons per second, 3 if you barswap. Light attacks, skills have independent cool down. Cool down ~1second respectively. Barswap and block have no cool down. So unless your ping is 999+ consistently, you can weave just as easily as anyone else at any ping. The only difference is your speed of input, not level of output. This appears at first slower as hits don't impact simultaneously like with lower ping, but sustained over time, the total damage value is the same. Lower ping has longer to wait per cool down, which is easier to mistime, ironically.

Randomly fluctuating ping is harder to manage as you don't always have time to adjust to it.

    Edit
Console, in particular xbox, seem to have an additional layer of input lag from controller. My xbox 52ms ping is much harder to weave consistently than my pc 180ms - 200ms.could also be that there are hidden jumps from xbox network to eso, dunno.

I can 42 k on my one pet (matriarch) sorc build with consistent 250ish ping- but I cannot (yet) make comparable to other Magblade numbers - I just haven’t parsed enough to get the elemental wep weave right and focusing on that makes me let dots fall off - so it’s harder - but I know loads of AU/Oce players getting killer parses - so I know it can be done!

Edited to add: I main a healer and I cannot speak for stam builds because I don’t know how to play stam chars.
