Hi guys! I've been away from the game for the past few months and am wondering what is generally considered the optimal build(s) set up for stamblade both pve and PvP?

Is vicious ophidian still good for pve? In the past I've ran bow/DW and enjoy it but is there any incentive to switch ? Thanks in advance!

I don't know anymore. Those players who claim themselves the "best" with their class will throw Trial and DLC Dungeon sets at you cause they're the Meta that gives the best DPS parses by a margin of like 1.5% over other sets.

My Stamblade just wears Hulking Draugr and Spriggans. 45,500 Max Stam and like 3.8k-ish buffed Weapon Dmg is more than enough to get the job done.

Leviathan is a much better economic choice over Advancing Yokeda. The set bonuses are the same with a negligible difference in critical chance for the 5th set bonus. Advancing Yokeda is a heavy set too, therefore, Leviathan is medium that does not require you to spend the 150 transmute stones to be robust on the jewelry. It myths me why people feel this Advancing Yokeda is awesome, or BiS when an equal, more readily accessible set is available.

Relequen is an excellent set for boss fights; otherwise, VO is the better choice. For penetration, there is TFS; but you can get similar results running Mother's Night (craftable) and outside Trials, Spriggans gives you the penetration upfront than having to wait for the build-up.

Why? Because Maelstrom bow. Or, failing that, (as I am in), a Master's Bow.

AY, Briarheart, Ravager (if your light attack weaving is too low for AY*) are better than Levi because they permit use of the above bow.

If your weaving is on par, you may get away with an Agility bow.

If you do not have a bow, then, yes, Levi is a good choice. As are several other easy to acquire overland/base dungeon sets.

That all said, you gear for what you do. Every player should have sets to swap around to fit the need.

*Edit: or is it if you spend too long on the back bar. Eh, there is maths apparently, somewhere.

For pvp: Echoing Vigor perhaps, and briarheart is nice.
